2025-2026 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

Definitely concerning…. Were these three surgeries on the same hip? Did last year’s surgery address/fix the issue?

all the same hip… we don’t know and likely wont know

Let’s hope CAB already has a plan for him and can strengthen the areas around the hip to help keep him healthy.

With that sort of history of almost leads me to believe that he is coming in as 6th man/backup PG to either Uzan(fingers crossed) or Flemings because that consistent of injury history seemingly means that his minutes should be pretty closely monitored vs absolutely riding him.

But also what do I know

Get what we can outta Pop before he inevitably gets hurt.

Doesn’t sound like Pop makes it to MM after grueling Big12 conference games…

Recurring hip pain in basketball players can stem from various factors, including femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral tears, muscle strains, and overuse injuries. Improper training, form, and repeated movements can contribute to these issues, especially in athletes who specialize in one sport.

Prevention and Treatment: Proper warm-up and stretching routines, good form, and avoiding overtraining can help prevent hip injuries. Treatment often involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), along with medication and physical therapy.

He may not make it through CKS summer workouts….unless they lighten up for him….which I doubt.

Avoiding over training with Sampson’s practices good luck lol

I think Pop comes off the bench to spell Flemings and Sharp

The Worst case roster scenario for next year as of now would be Uzan leaves for the NBA, the one scorer we brought in from Transfer Portal Pop Isaacs isn’t healthy enough to give us consistent minutes and our star Freshmen come in and struggle to play at a high level.

Hoping Uzan comes back but if he doesn’t then I really hope his fried Isaacs has a miraculously healthy year for us and if neither of those happen then I think we’ll really be needing to hit a grand slam on at least 1 or 2 of the young guys to come in and play really really well. This isn’t just the incoming freshmen I’m taking about but includes the other young guys that spent the majority of the last year or two on the bench.

Me too.

I also think people are sleeping on Harwell….if he gets the minutes he is one and done like Cenac.

So who starts with Sharp and Flemings?

Miller? Walker?

Why wouldn’t Isaacs be healthy? He isn’t the only player to have a surgery. Roberts has had surgeries. Didn’t Cryer have multiple foot surgeries?

He has the hips of an 80 year old

Cenac and Tugler at the 4 and 5….not sure about the last spot.

Pop Isaacs has had chronic hip injuries through his HS and college career… including three surgeries for the same hip

i think pop starts…the injury issue is about if he can finish the season

pop has never not started ever everywhere he has ever been … including some stacked teams … including teams with other small undersized touted pg (found a way to play both despite defensive holes)

my non milos starting line up:

  • pop - senior PG with experience on college
  • sharp - lock
  • harwell - defense, reintroduces guard rebounding
  • cenac - practical lock (no real competition)
  • tugler- lock

Sampson’s deepest and most talented squad at UH.

Definitely will be our most talented squad under Sampson. And probably Sampson’s most talented team ever.

This team will have a minimum of 4 NBA players on it. And I think all will be first rounders.

Cenac
Tugler
Flemings
Harwell

And then you have a fringe NBA guy. Could play himself into being a draft pick with a good year in Emanuel Sharp.

And then there are guys that I think can be NBA players. But need to show me at the college level, obviously.

Mercy
McFarland

And this is without mentioning Pop, McCarty, Ramon Walker, or Sahko.

If Uzan is back, then this roster is absolutely insane. It already is.

The part that will be interesting to watch is talent versus experience, especially without Milos. Our most talented team under Sampson. And also maybe our least experienced roster.
