2025-2026 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

I think we watch the games with the same type of lens. When I see Baylor hit two difficult step back threes after watching the brick fest their previous game versus Iowa State I wasn’t too worried about the hot start. I find it funny when players point to the sky, tell everyone they got big balls (Krisa) or pound their chest after hitting some random shot early in the game. Probably a shot that’s two out of 10 at best.
I am one that likes to get into the game emotionally when I’m sitting at home, but I had a very calm feel about it when we were down 14-6.

I had the same thought. It kind of felt like the reverse of the 2021 Final Four game. We jumped out to a quick lead and I thought, “We can do this!” Then Baylor started draining 3s from everywhere.

I’m excited. You can definitely see the improvement of the team , Cenac, Harrell, bench players and Tugler is really coming along and catching up from being out

Go Coogs and CKS

Once Sharp hit that 3 with about 12 minutes left in the first half, you could almost see the team go “alright, it’s on now.”

The defensive rotations are so much better now than they were a couple of weeks ago. With the length and athleticism we’re putting on the floor, the defense is on the cusp of being downright nasty.

Cenac is almost all “growed” up now….dude is competing hard….Chase didn’t hit a shot but was grabbing offensive boards everywhere.

If Snacks plays the rest of the season like he did Saturday… Game Over.

Like everyone else he is going to have good nights shooting and then some not so good…but his posting up and his defense is truly improving albeit small steps. But Cenac knows his role here and I love his demeanor and team first attitude. He is going to be a huge help come playoff time…

And Jojo, on top of what Chris is doing, totally agree

If Uzan was making his threes our OE would be amazing. It’s the poor 3pt % that is bringing it down.

I don’t understand how he goes from 40%+ on volume last year to 26% this year. It has to be in his head at this point.

I think he got different shots last year, and he got them more consistently. When I see him standing off in the corner waiting for a pass to come to him, I have low confidence in him making that shot.

That being said, he’s still pretty close to his scoring and assists averages from last season, which seems hard to believe.

Last season Uzan got a lot of catch and shoot 3s where he was nicely set before shooting.

Two years ago today, Houston lost to TCU 68-67, falling to 1-2 in the Big 12.

Since that day, the Cougars have been 36-2 in league play, won both Big 12 titles, and are again in first place.

I went to that game at TCU and some lonely, fat TCU fan sitting in front of me taunted me. Where is that loser now?

37-4 in the Big 12. That’s unbelievable but it happened.

Shooting percentages can be misleading. Our offensive rebounding is so good, a lot of times you get two attempts to make one. Result is the same but % is off. Bottom line is, you can’t look at our shooting %.

Remember when Huggins said that Houston doesn’t know what it is getting into in the Big 12?
