2025-2026 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

10/7/2 from Cenac would be a fantastic season.

I expect Sharp to lead the team in scoring. With Harwell a close second.

How many players from Ramon’s team also got D1 scholarship offers…

The first 3 players I looked up on Cenac’s team had offers to Houston, USC and tOSU… I bet the next 3 do, too…

And with respect to Harwell he did 13ppg his senior season and Cenac did 12.1…

Why did Harwell play in so few HS games at hos school?

Did he plat at Wasatch and another school last season?

Edit: The 4th guy on Cenac’s team went to Bama… I don’t think those stats are apples to oranges… and the fifth to San Francisco… just saying when EVERYBODY on your team can score you might score less…

That’s why I specifically noted his junior year when he played in Louisiana public High School, which in fact is a lower level than what Ramon played. as Ramon was in a Stronger public school classification

I wasn’t expecting Harwell to put up a lot of points either. This is why I said I didn’t expect any of our freshmen to be stars. That was the original post. And to your question, he did come off of an injury. Remember, he was injured.
And in all fairness to Harwell, he did have 18 points per as a sophomore in regular high school and 15 points as a junior at Wasatch.

But you’re free to believe what you want. I think you’re setting yourself up for disappointment, because you’re going to expect someone to do something that they’re not, instead of enjoying them for what they truly are.

I expect $harp and Milos to lead the Coogs in scoring… after that seems like a toss up to me for Cenac or Harwell to be 3rd or 4th…

thats a fair guess… ill do a hot take… mercy is 3rd as a bench scorer …

I was literally just going to say but I hope Miller ends up being the 3rd… or even another player other than a true frosh…

I’ll play. Don’t see any way our top 3 scorers aren’t Sharp, Uzan and Cenac. A 6’10 big that is going be shooting the 3 and can put the ball on the floor? Dude can score from anywhere on the floor and I think we will finally have a player that draws fouls on the opposition and will be shooting a lot of free throws.

have you watched any film on cenac? like a full game (not clipped together highlights)… he isnt a agreesive like at all… his game is he disappears for 9 game minutes and then does a off the dribble step back 3… if you just cut him makes together… he is looks amaizng… its the huge gaps imbetween his highlights thats the issue… and noted on any scouting report about him

again he only did 14 per in public high school at 6’11 (his junior year)… most centers at that level are 6’4-6’6…
he “could” be our 3rd scorer but i see lots of ways he isnt… im not even sure im ready to put him over tugs yet

I got it as

Sharp
Harwell
Uzan
Cenac
Tugler
Kingston
Mercy

I think all 7 of these guys will be 7+ points per game.

This changes if Tugler develops a jumper.

Yea I’ve watched plenty. He put up 14 without forcing anything and just getting buckets in the flow of the offense. This is without being force fed the ball and his team making an effort to get him the ball in spots. You don’t think KS is going to make an effort to get him the ball?

Also I don’t think high school stats mean squat for the next level. You make it seem so far fetched but compare to your Miller take? Someone who might not even get half the minutes of Cenac. I would gladly accept a wager with you who ends of scoring more.

Uh oh… place your bets Coogfans… :money_mouth_face:

I dont… Cenac scores by off the dribble scoring from 3, we barely let bigs shoot to then “force feed” it. cenac isnt a notable post scorer… sampon wont feed cenac to score like that… we will more likely feed jojo as lowpost scorer than cenac as an iso scorer on the perimeter

also i never said it was far fetched… you said it was a lock… i said its not a lock, but a possibility. cenac is 1 of 4 players that could be our #3 scorer

Let me add more context. Louisiana has five divisions, 5A being the biggest and 1A being the smallest. Cenac played in Newman High School, a 2A school, and werent even a great team… Do you let the game come to you when you’re losing a lot of games? And you’re being defended by 6-5 opposing centers?
There is a reason why he went from almost unknown to a 5-star during AAU.

To say high school stats don’t mean squad is a completely bad take. The stats aren’t going to translate one-to-one, no, but it lets you know a player’s nature. For example, Mercy scored a ton in high school, so you know him by nature is trying to score a lot. His efficiency stat and scoring weren’t good, but if you watch film on Mercy last season , he was clearly trying to score every time he got the ball (mentality). You could reference that from the stats he did in high school. Similarly, Jarace Walker wasn’t a major scorer in high school, so I knew when he was coming here he wasn’t going to be naturally be trying to score the ball a lot. You can get context clues from the stats that they did in high school.

The stats, with context of the level they were playing it, automatically let you know Cenac is not naturally aggressive. If he wasn’t naturally aggressive against 6,'5, 210lb HS centers, what makes you think he’s going to be aggressive against Florian Badunga? What makes you think he’s going to be aggressive against extremely strong Tobi awaka? What makes you think he’s going to be aggressive against 7-2 John Ball on UCF?

I would gladly accept a wager with you… but not on miller… i clearly said that was a hot take… but ill do cenac vs the field for #3

ps this all sports talk… all in good fun

Revenue sharing $20.5M, the article mentioned mens basketball teams would typically get 15%

That would be about $3.1M for our roster. Instead of the what $7-$8M we’re spending now

All NIL deals above $600 have to be reviewed.

I bet Houston gets nil deals outside of that for these guys

@BYUcougarfan how’s yalls fanbase reacting to it?

Writing big checks to guys like Dybantsa, sounds like its going away with this settlement

Lowkey disappointed because it helped put us on the map… hahaha but we will stay competitive, I think. We have lots of real nil stuff here too.

Right. They mention in the article that lawsuits against the 20.5M cap are expected

Seems like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube, regulating NIL

Usually all these new “rules” get struck down by another judge.

A big portion of the current NIL for byu is the connections that you create. Lots of unicorn businesses and other large companies that they get internships at.

Even if it holds I think BYU feels good about where they are at.
