@RWcoog would disagree on that.
I dont use the term often. But critiquing a players “Basketball IQ” or “Football IQ” is fair, if there are repeated examples of something they do on the field

Where did I say his IQ was “low”? Again I’ll wait.
Saying it needs to improve (even saying significantly) in no way means it’s “low”. It just needs to improve to where the numerous silly fouls are limited as him sitting on the bench in foul trouble drastically reduces who we are defensively and if you can’t see this oh well.
Another example, not a silly foul, but in the Duke game where he was assessed a technical foul for slapping the ball out of the inbounding players hands with a 1:14 to go in the game.
Sure you can though it’s pretty dumb in this case but if you are willing to disrespect one of our player’s IQ then you shouldn’t be offended when your opinion is challenged. If you really can’t see what I quoted then sorry and just move on.
A lot of Jo Jo’s fouls are because he is asked to double team and or guard a ball handler 20+ feet from the basket. That is Sampsons defense and you have to admit it is great in limiting the opponent - we are always in top 5 nationally. With that comes fouls on the big who is helping with that defense. Throw that back on Coach, he obviously feels the success of his defense outweighs the fouls Jo Jo and other bigs receive while chasing on the perimeter.
No other team asks their bigs to do that on the perimeter.
Jo Jo practicing again!
There are methods to staying aggressive , moving the feet, keeping the hands off the offensive player and not reaching to minimize fouls. The methods not used are sacrificing our ball pressure and double teams.
If he can make it to the 2nd half without picking up the second I consider that a good job.
“And not reaching to minimize fouls”.
Exactly. Which means playing smarter (improving your IQ).
You got me, he isn’t perfect. Yep obviously that translates to “he needs to significantly improve his basketball IQ”
Thanks for your confirmation
There were egregious fouls by Jojo at critical moments of a few games that come to mind. I believe he is our most valuable player, but he needs to improve at these potentially tide turning fouls to keep us in better position to close out some of these games.
It would be cool if they did a replica ring giveaway night like the Astros do. That would surely fill the building.
Guess who is top vote getter?

Coach Sampson alluding that Harwell & Kingston wont be 1 & Dones. Will return for Sophomore season at UH
This can certainly change. Harwell, I’ve seen on mock drafts. Maybe has a great yr, and is a late lottery candidate
Kingston, cause he needs work on his jumpshot. Him returning for a 2nd yr, seems likely
But could imply that, Caleb Holt, 2026 prospect. If we miss on him, we’re not devastated by it
Nothing is going to devastate us. We are going to get players!
