This made a lot of sense. A portal year once in a while, maybe because someone enters draft late…?
It’s amazing how much he sounds like his dad. If he talked a bit slower and had a slightly older-sounding voice, you couldn’t tell the difference.

Ive seen cenac in a red jersey since the beginning but harwell and flemmings were in red jerseys on coach birthday. I think that harwell gets the start at the 3. I cant see it being mccarty or kordel. Probably because i havent seen them play at all.

I want to see him hit 3s… if him & Cenac are both pick & pop and pick & roll threats… gonna be tough to defend.
That’s not really a basketball IQ issue in my opinion… that’s just a dumb play.
When I think about basketball IQ I think about positioning, passing skills and timing, making the right play, anticipation of opposing players on offense and defense, etc…
Jojo can improve his IQ… but he’s got a pretty good IQ already.

He really does. He’ll still pick up dumb fouls, but he has a great sense of where to be on defense, and he’s a pretty good passer for a big man. That game-winning pass vs Purdue was mostly an IQ play.

Yeah there’s a difference between IQ and playing in control. Jojo’s issue is playing in control way more than IQ

Improving playing under control is part of I.Q. Nobody said his IQ was low. Just has to get better because he’s not doing the team any good riding the bench in foul trouble (or fouling out).
Sampson has mentioned that JoJo has one of the best basketball IQs he has coached, made mention of the pass to Milos to win the Purdue game. Cant remember the exact quote but he said he said he makes plays and sees things most players dont.

Jojo makes some great plays and some pretty bad ones too.
Every player has to grow in different aspects of the game. Another reason for the success of Sampson’s teams are players improving their game the longer they’re here (building on the previous season). Jojo needs to cut down on some of the silly fouls (the reaching fouls for example) that have got him in foul trouble. Pointing this out doesn’t mean his overall IQ is low because anyone who watches him can see he’s extremely intelligent at so many areas of the game (and yes elite in many aspects). So yes in this specific area I’d like to see him play more under control because as pointed out we’re a completely different team defensively when he’s on the bench.
So… cut down fouls but continue to use his high basketball IQ… got it… 
And hit open 3s.

Tug is going to be fine and I think is about to really breakout this season. He may and probably will pick up some early fouls. His aggressiveness and ability to switch everything and recover is one thing that makes him great. He will continue to grow with making the best on court decisions.
