I’ll take it! :grinning:

Can I ask “To Peat Or Not To Peat”? I’ll see myself out.

That is the question!

It’s been heavily debated on here, but as good as Peat is, I’d take an experienced JoJo over him next year. Especially with Cenac coming in and hopefully a healthy McFarland.

The coaching situation at ASU is also a factor.

defense is our magic sauce, francis is leaving … youd 100% want jojo back over anyone

but with that said, we have no major low post scorer on roster …

either or is a win in different ways…

It’s a huge factor yes with ASU but not for ‘Zona

Cenac isn’t a low post scorer? I know he’s not a traditional back-to-the-basket scorer, but I think he’ll score plenty in the paint next year. Would LOVE to have him and JoJo as rim protectors on the defensive end as well.

No doubt. Among several outstanding attributes.

I personally choose tenacity as my favorite aspect of his.

I think his guy simply has it and should be such a great fit when he joins as a Coog.

almost never post ups against players his size… he does score a lot in the “post”… but as a driver, lobs, put backs… he will post up if he gets a good mismatch (guard on him)…
you can make the similar argument for jojo and mcfarland …

but google any tape of cenac youll almost see no post ups

i was more talking more in the context of versus the great defenses … similar to how jwan is used this year, that when the guards are taking out by good D… we can give it to jwan down low to bruise it up with some low post guys and find us some points

can probably put ramon with an asterisk to come back… and McFarland almost certainly coming back with 4 years of eligibility

agree with both but this is the up tor date

Yup.

I’m following that.

Including Allen HS, whose only loss was a very close one in overtime against Flemings and his Brennan crew. Couple more wins for each and we might get to see a rematch there (for the state championship in 6A div 1).

Of course… one game at a time!

Wouldn’t surprise me if we portal for a backup big for next season. Jojo and Cenac is the most likely starting frontcourt at this point and even though it is possible that Jojo goes through the draft process I would be surprised if he leaves due to his current offensive limitations. The other 2 returning bigs are Lath and McFarland with neither being likely to be in the rotation next year imo.

We need a portal big with toughness and size. Our incoming guys, save for JoJo, might get thrashed on the boards…

I have been told that UT’s Rodney Terry is coaching for his job the rest of the season and Texas AD Chris Del Conte has an informal short list of replacements, that includes Arizona HC Tommy Lloyd.

@Joprior23 What is the reasoning that Peat’s decision depends on JoJo? The returning PF and C players will only be JoJo, Lath, and McFarland, correct? There’s not a lot of depth there to overcome, I would think.

my worry is that jojo will star in the combine … him getting pre-combine love is troublesome becuase he is the type of prospects the sky rockets in the combine

guys like broome are shinning now (dominant player) but when the combine comes and his wingspan is not notable, his isnt that athletic, his agility isnt that fast on drills his stock will fall some

jojo is going to go in there and have the best height to wingspan ratio the combine has potentially ever recorded, do great for a center on the cone drills (becuase he is only 6’7), one of the top vertical jump reaches …and jojo doesnt shoot in games, but he is actually pretty good in drills

he is going to pull one these in the combine

and there is going to be 1 exec whose eyes will widen and think they can fix his offense

Plus the addition of Cenac. If JoJo returns, we’ll most likely see Cenac and JoJo starting which is probably not terribly appetizing for a player of Peat’s caliber to come off the bench. Just speculation, but that’s my understanding. Joprior can certainly step in and correct me if my understanding is off.

@2002Coog based on @pesik scouting Cenac is more of a 3 than a post leaving Peat some opportunity in the post. j/s
