in what sense? becuase im not sure i agree with this take… mccains game honestly hasnt evolved much since high school… his high school scouting report would be almost identical to his NBA scouting report … that would have won him rookie of the year had he stayed healthy .
another is mccain was a higher ranked 5star despite being undersized and not that athletic for his position (6’2 SG, Was ranked for skill)

kingston has some strong developmental areas… before he is an nba player

but just my opinion on the take

Bellaire had the spotlight tonight and finally took advantage after years of heartbreak with better teams - Brennan did nothing in the first half and dug a hole they couldn’t get back out of - had a shot to tie late but missed a big basket - but having to press the whole 2nd half gave BHS a lot of easy baskets in which they really needed

They also struggled shooting from the free throw line

Henderson is the stronger of the two now but how Duke uses him will be interesting -

Flemings has the frame to get stronger and will be the better prospect long term as he’s playing on skill -

Glad HISD and the fan base came out to support them - when HISD does things right it’s an obvious difference between them and the suburban areas in terms of fan interest - people want them to win and they feel more connected -
Hopefully they can figure it out in football

I’m really curious about how he will transition to D1. A bully-ball driver with no shot from the wing at 6’6" isn’t the formula for success in year one. In high school, you can overpower your 5’11" defender and have a clear path to the post. In D1, he’ll still be stronger than most wings (which is why he’s a five-star), but the strength gap will be much smaller. Even if he gets past his initial defender, 85% of high-major teams will have someone capable of shot-blocking in the post.

Adding to that, Henderson is super strong but not very bouncy. He isn’t dunking everything, the ball is in the air enough to be blocked. Almost every shot he made today wouldn’t translate to D1

Pesik, you gotta quit worrying about “how high of a five star” someone is ranked.

McCain was what? In the the teens? 13th or 14th?

Kingston is 16th or 17th?

And I think most that have seen him play would agree he should be ranked even higher….

I already know you don’t value my report based on seeing the kid multiple times over the last two years….so there is no use in debating anything at this point.

And still won! Defense helps!

Milos will start and be given the keys if he returns. Already has experience with the offense.

When it comes to McCain from Duke is was his jump shot that was college ready. I need to see Flemings jumper become more consistent with off-season training.

Just because he didn’t shoot well last nite doesn’t mean he can’t shoot.

In the games I have seen him play he has shot well over 40% from 3 and over 50% overall.

Can Flemings play the 2? Just wondering if we could see done Uzan-Flemings lineups next year? Basically swap Cryer for Flemings.

Agreed, some are putting to much emphasis on one game.
Henderson plays bully ball and is really good, but I think Bellaire was simply the better team and playing at home.
I would still take Fleming any day of the week.
Fleming and Sampson will be a great combination.
Fleming will not start as a freshman in all probability, but the good news is he will see the court, which is saying something for a freshman under this coach.

Why? We have Sharp, Harwell, Mercy - all returning to split time at the SG position. Flemings is a natural PG.

2026:

PG: Milos, Flemings
SG: Sharp, Harwell, Miller, Jefferson
SF: TA, McCarty Jackson
PF: Tugler,
C: Cenac, MacFarland, Lath

We may lose: TA, Milos, Tugler

Going to need help from the portal. CKS will get what he needs

He is big enough to play the two….i guess you are talking about when Milos moves over and lets Cryer run the offense….sure, something similar could be done with Kingston if CKS wanted to run something like that….and he could also do it in a three guard set to give teams a different look.

Lots of options.

Is there any chance Bryce Jackson isn’t redshirting next year? I’ve never seen the kid play, but seems like he would be buried behind more experienced players.

Kingston Flemings scouting report. His 3 pt shot needs some refinement.

He was 1-10 last night. Hes going to need alot of refinement.

Not to knock on any of the 3 you mentioned (Milos, TA, Tugler) we might lose but none of them are NBA ready IMO and have more to improve on this level. Agreed on the whole roster, that should be our roster next year with no moves in the portal unless Kordell or Lath transfer knowing their playing time may be limited or some school pulls TA away with NIL money…

You and Pesik can read/post those all you want….do your thing.

I did not see “excess motion in his release”……his mechanics are clean and repeatable.
That profile reads like someone was just looking for something to nitpick….believe what you want.

My view comes from seeing this kid play multiple times in person over the last couple of years….

You don’t have to believe me, I have no problem with that at all.

I would recommend that posters not place too much emphasis on Flemings shooting last night. One game does not indicate a proficiency. Look at the entire season for a better idea.

It’s post like this that I shake my head at….people that take one box score in a game they didn’t even see….get serious man.

The best players in the world have poor shooting nights….it does not define someone.

I can’t even believe posters would judge someone on ONE game….

Too many people that don’t know anything about the game or the player….freaking laughable.

No one is knocking the idea that he cant play. We’re knocking the idea he,wont start!!! Too much talent at UH. Starting at pg as a freshman is a tall task no matter how many stars you see on a player!

I can see how some can get blinded by that.
