I’ll take that, for sure…7-6 to 10-3. I think we’ll go 8-4. We get back to winning this year.
Lol I don’t understand how anyone could have a ceiling
If you’re ceiling isn’t a CFP Championship, then you ain’t a real Coog!!!
This…
So, I’ve known Willie for 28 years. He dies more with less than any coach in college football. When he gets more, he does even more. While I have ZERO doubt he will amaze many of You, IMO, there are still about a half-dozen teams, that should we meet them post-season, have so much depth, that, should we meet up with them, our season would likely end. That’s why I have 10 wins as a ceiling in year 2. But… anything “could” happen. I’ll be more thrilled than most of you, should that happen…
…”DOES more with less”…
Come on, be realistic lol
If Conner Weigman lives up to his potential, considering the talent we have at the receiver / TE position, then I truly think we can do some damage.
We also have more depth at the OL / RB positions
Anywhere between 6-6 and 10-2 seems right.
We have an extremely favorable schedule this year.
3-0 ooc, 1-2 Texas teams, 1-1 OSU CU, 2-2 UA ASU WVU UCF
7-5 floor
Most of the pre-season picks I’ve seen have us at 6-6. Saw one today that said 3-9.
I think 5-7 is about right but definitely hope for a much better result.
With the new players and coaches, anything less than 6 wins would be a disappointment (floor). Have to make progress from previous year. Anything 7+ would be major accomplishment (ceiling) and set up some recruiting surprises.
Watch out @3rdWardCoog2 … Debbie Downer (@tcoog ) is back… ![]()

Where we are picked doesnt mean much because those people pay little attention to what they are doing. We are picked 9th or 10th in Big 12, but we play 5 teams picked below us in the standings. Plus, we play SFA, Rice and Oregon State in non conference and should win all those games. 7 or 8 wins is about right, not 5. Ive seen pre season standings, but no one picks our record .No one respectable, that is.
Floor 6-6. Steady improvement and closer margins in games lost.
Ceiling 8-5. Bowl game and more steady improvement year over year.
I do believe that I read his coaching record on here somewhere and if I remember correctly, his record refutes you comment. Check it out.
Currently, the nature of the Big 12 suggests that the difference between the top and bottom really isn’t that steep.
It does for every level he has coached at EXCEPT Tulane.
His one FBS stop (Tulane) did indeed take some time.
And that was his highest level stop prior to UH. I’m pretty sure WasSooner was basing his statement on that.
So, ignore everything prior to taking over Tulane and just base your opinion on ONE instance? I’m curious, how many head coaches currently coaching began their head coaching career in Power 4 and/or little 6?
Not discounting his record anywhere else.
