2025 Results / Your Floor, Your Ceiling, and Why…

Seems to me that would be like saying Tom Brady was a terrible QB, if based on only the last team he played for. It’s the body of the work, not just cherry picking the results that support your opinion

Definitely not saying anything like that.

Nothing wrong with pointing out that what Fritz is being tasked with now is harder and more complicated than anywhere else he’s ever been. You can’t just copy and paste results from previous stops, even if those were on the same level we are now.

What his history shows is that he’s a damn good football coach, and I believe, in time, will turn UH into a good college football program (if given the resources to do so).

He turned an awful loser at Tulane into a winner by his 3rd year. His last 2 teams each won 10+ games, a miracle virtually never done before at Tulane. No job is going to be harder than that one, certainly not ours. Fritz makes us a winner again this year.

I think you’re right about us having a winning record this season, but 10 wins with the Tulane schedule isn’t the same as building UH into a Big 12 contender. This job is harder.

Big 12 title contender means we need to win 9 or 10 games. That will be a hard job. So we’ll see how CWF does the next couple of years.

Depends on Armstrong and the defense. Get it close to last seasons, we play in Jerry’s world.

reasoning, fritz showed he took a while to get going at tulane and UH’s schedule doesn’t have a lot of conference easy games at home, so they have to pick off wins on the road imo to exceed expectations.

UH only plays two teams ranked higher than us to start the season. 8 to 10 wins.

We don’t have Tulane facilities or Tulane recruiting base either. It’s also one of the (few) schools over which our fan base is bigger.

Edited to add:

People don’t understand how impressive what CWF did at Tulane is. Post 1950 or so, Tulane is only a shot glass full of care better than Rice. Can you imagine what kind of coach it would take to get freaking RICE?!? to MULTIPLE NY6 games?

I know no one wants to hear (or believe) this, but being the best G5 team and making a NY6 game isn’t as hard as taking a below-average P4 team and doing the same. Especially in the south (and talent-rich Louisiana).

@NCCoog @dailycoog we need to get some gameday watch parties going this year…

I know there are some other NC Coogs, too…

I’m near the triangle…

Agree to disagree. I don’t want this to turn into one of those threads where two people suck up all the oxygen arguing over some details.

I’m planning to go to CU and Tech but we’ll see how it plays out…

We can try to plan something for Rice…

I guess we can start by picking a bar…

Tulane’s went undefeated season in football in 1998, when the Green Wave went 12-0. That season culminated in a victory over BYU in the Liberty Bowl. The 1998 team was coached by Tommy Bowden. They were the last Tulane football team to finish a season undefeated according to Tulane University Athletics
