What happened to our soccer program?
Several years back it looked to be a rising star before the coach got run off.
But things have changed under the new coach.
Well we have a new coach this year that is very highly regarded, so fingers crossed.

They played well when Bocanegra had them…then the dude abruptly retired to start a podcast or something.
The coach that took over (Frias, iirc) stayed only 2ish yrs before he bounced, not really accomplishing anything except our program’s 1st win in the Big 12 (thank you. West Virginia).
The new HC seems promising, but given our soccer program’s track record, it is not a priority sport, it seems.
Well that Texas game looks spicy.

Well, umm, yeah. Because it’s Texas. And they are deigning to travel to Cullen. Maybe we are entering a new age of detente.
I like the way you think about casual fans showing up but I suspect most of them will either be immediate family members or wearing burnt orange. I would love to be proven wrong though. As always, winning is the best promotion.
The Rice game is an exhibition? I’m not sure what the Athletics Dept. considers a strong crowd but that will be a tough one.

Coogs up 3-0 with a great play & goal by #22.
The team looks WAY better than last szn…much more physical, faster, out-running Rice players, winning difficult 50/50 clashes, and more importantly, finishing attacking plays with goals.

Really hope the social media team was able to get footage of some of these plays. There have been goals, set plays & hustle plays.
Also, Rice scored on a good set piece in the only mistake so far by out defense.

Coogs 4, St. Mary’s 0 in home opener. Next game Thursday in Huntsville v. SHSU.
Looking at radar and noticing game is already in weather delay, my guess is a rainout tonight. Sooo, next game at home vs. UT: Sunday, August 24 6 p.m.
