Indoor Season starts January 10 with the Leonard Hilton Memorial at UH.
I thought I saw where Shaun was going to run indoors. Does he have outdoor eligibility left as well? I thought he was done.
I thought he was done, as well.
And he’s not listed on the roster on UH website.
I guess we’ll see in a few weeks.
I thought he was running in the Diamond League after the Olympics? I thought he turned pro.
But maybe you can be pro outdoor runner and still an amateur indoor runner?
Maybe I dreamed it, can’t find anything about it on line.
I am not sure but invitationals I do believe invite non affiliated or even pro runners.
Men’s and Women’s should compete for Big 12 titles. Carl has expanded his field events with really good recruits. All winners at previous schools. Men’s side finally has a 4x4 relay to be excited about. Also the women’s should have a 4x1 relay team this year. Both squads did not compete in each event last year. Excited about what Carl is building.
Robert Platt Invitational this weekend.

Coogs are building for a dominant future. Have not seen some runners in the indoors. Preferably Michaela Mouton, Micah Scales and Cayden Broadnax. Hope they are healthy. A bunch of freshman on both the women’s and men’s side are showing up and out. Have a couple of #1 in the nation performances. Also coach Lewis signed a couple of stars. Specifically Alexa Smothers and Dominic Harper. They will come in next year ready to take some spots on relays and start their legacies. Looking forward to Big 12 championship Feb 28th. Texas A&M look like the favorites but hope Houston can be competitive and make it close. Coogs are young in many areas but deep.
The field sports are having a very nice indoor season.
Does anyone know the status of Michaela Mouton…the extremely talented 400M runner?
I e-mailed a coach…no reply.
Is she injured or sick?
I don’t know, but I just opened Twitter and there’s this cryptic message:
Anybody know what this means? Does he have eligibility left???
EDIT: Just saw this from Big 12 Championships… obviously he’s got eligibility left!
I had posted earlier in this thread that I had heard he still had an indoor season left, but couldn’t find any confirmation. Guessing he is using this to gear up for going pro?
WELCOME BACK, SHAUN MASWANGANYI
With an indoor season of eligibility remaining, the Cougars welcome back 2024 Olympic Silver Medalist and 15-time NCAA All-American, Shaun Maswanganyi. Maswanganyi will compete in the 60-meter and 200-meter this weekend.
I saw he was DQ’d in the 200, but I didn’t see the race. What happened?
Shaun barely qualified for 60m finals.
Maybe needed a little more preparation before jumping straight into conference championship.
Wow, so is he also eligible for one more outdoor? These NCAA rules keep changing every day in favor of the athlete.
No I don’t think so
Tech has been rolling. With the new influx of TTU NIL, they will be there for a while.
I haven’t been following at all this season. Are we that good, or is it just early?
It’s both. The men’s team is deep and talented. Women’s are talented but a lot of rebuilding with high school girls. Plus Michaela Mouton women’s All American is looking like a shell of herself. With track outside activities can ruin your career. Especially for women, certain behaviors take away from your performance. Not sure how discipline the women are off the track. Some of their times are 4 to 5 seconds off in certain events. Plus some are not improving weekly at a average pace for track. Men will challenge for a championship. Women’s are deep but young.
