UH baseball projections by Warren Nolan.

Were those projections pre-season or as of today?

A realistic prediction based upon actual facts. Apparently, Warren Nolan didn’t get the memo about our great hitting and pitching combo. After all, we beat UTA, who may have the worst pitching in the country, two times. Look out Grambling, we are circling the wagons!

Today, because it had the current 7-4 record taken into account.

I personally think they will be a little better than the projections….when you consider the Grambling series and some of the mid weeks….i think the overall record will be close to .500….they should win more conference games as well.

I still think the RPI winds up 80+ and we don’t sniff the bubble much less make the tournament.

That was definitely not Jeremy I heard last night

TV v UTRGV was Jeremy Branham & Robert Neagli.

Rice lost 2 Lamar 7-11 last night.
Rice playing 6 games in 7 days.

Correct. The radio guy was different

The UH baseball games are on the radio?

On uhcougars.com

Gene Elston & Loel Passe.

I know the names but they were before my time. Are they in the Astros HOF?

I didn’t realize they were still announcing….

I have heard their podcast….ā€Tales from the Cryptā€.

Gene Elston was the Astros’ announcer during my childhood.

As I recall, he was fired after the 1986 season. It had to do with a) the hiring of Milo Hamilton that same year, who was much more of a ā€œhomerā€ and cheerleader, as opposed to the more monotone and subdued Elston, and b) for not cheering wildly and hardly announcing anything when the Astros clinched the Division that year with Mike Scott’s no hitter.

He was inducted posthumously into the Astros Hall of Fame in 2019 though.

They were the 2 Astros announcers in the mid to late 60’s that I started listening to on Radio as a young kid. Sorry based on your profile pic i thought you were a liitle older.

Edit: Harry Kalas ( current Astros announcer’s Dad ) was also part of Announcing team, his voice still resonates in my head. He left around 1969 … went to Philly for remainder of his career until his passing ( happened in radio booth ) and became HOF announcer and also became the voice for NFL Films through the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s…

Loel Passe and Gene Elston !
Was not a big fan of Milo. He always seemed to be all about himself

Milo - a legend in his own mind.

I always liked Pat Cauley & Nick Torina. It was like hanging out with a couple of UH fans at the game. Torina would get texts from Gene Flores during the game and make fun of Gene’s spelling.
