2025 UHCougarBB

I was joking based on the “conversation “ last week.

But I can almost guarantee if Coogs get a lead late Sunday Jean will be in.

On a side note: Jean is making himself some money.

Perhaps a better title for that article would have been:

“THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!”: D1 schools are dropping baseball. What does that mean for the sport?"

BFD, 5 schools dropped BB during the pandemic. That means 13 additional schools have started playing D1BB since then.

I’m guessing most are low and mid majors, right?

Has any high major added the sport recently?

Just asking because I don’t know.

Huh?

“High Majors” already have baseball.

The few that don’t have baseball is because they don’t want to have to add another female program as well.

Then it is exactly as I theorized.

The schools adding were mostly low and mid majors.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

In any event, the schools adding it likely weren’t making money off of it.

What would you consider Boise State, Furman, North Carolina Central, La Salle and Chicago State to be?

Answer: Mid to low majors of course.

I guess a bunch more mid to low majors stepped up.

And for probably all, it will be a non-revenue sport.

I think you got a good look yesterday on why OSU will be firing Josh Holiday at the end of the year.

Those are all low majors. There are a couple of high major schools, like Iowa St, who had to drop baseball because of Title IX. They are few and far between, though.

I hope his slump continues for at least two more games!

College baseball is not your strong suit.

Never claimed it was.

But you don’t have to know much about college baseball to know that a) it isn’t a revenue sport for 98+% of D1 programs; probably 99+% of programs at all levels, b) any school adding it now won’t be adding it as a money making venture, AND c) as @TMoar already correctly pointed out, it’s not likely to be a super high priority for most athletic directors, rightly or wrongly, for that very reason.

Any casual sports fan knows that much.

Okay, you and @T-Moar know best.

Glad ya noticed!

Only schools I know who favors baseball over football or basketball is Dallas Baptist. DBU is a Division II school in the Lone Star Conference, but a member of C-USA for baseball. They have basketball but don’t have football.

Any idea what time the UH at OSU game might start?

Update: Looking at the radar, looks like a new line of rain/storms around 8:20 PM and for a while after that. I will be shocked if this one isn’t canceled.

Update 8:19 PM
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Houston-Oklahoma State baseball game scheduled for Saturday night has been canceled due to weather in the area and will not be rescheduled. Sunday’s Noon game is still planned as scheduled.

I realize UH probably flew, but why would they not start early and play 2?

I was thinking the same thing, especially since they moved yesterday’s game up to 3pm.

Common guys……yall both know the answer.

UH can win another….but what % of a chance do you think a team with little pitching has of winning game 2 of a DH and game 3 in a series?
