2025 UHCougarBB

I hope you’re right, but after last year, I’ll believe it after it’s been officially announced in a press release from Nunez office.

Mississippi State fired their Baseball Coach today. They made the decision to part company and immediately begin a National Search for a replacement. Their program has a storied history. Really hoping something happens with us soon. The embarrassment at Okie State continues the unacceptable events for our Baseball program.

Season can’t end too soon.

Their RPI rank today is 45 and they fire their coach mid-season.
Whitting has only finished higher 4x in 13 seasons, and that’s only because of Frank Anderson. This is beyond ridiculous. I don’t have any more faith in Nunez than I did Pezman. There was no reason for him to wait to make a coaching change, that should have happened his first week on the job.

Yeah, the fact that no move has been made means that no decision has been made, and that’s worrisome.

I think a decision has been
Made….they are just letting him finish out the string.

Probably gonna interview so top assistants as well as some current head coaches.

These guys are likely coaching teams that will. Be in tournament.

You’ll have to excuse my lack of confidence in the administration to do what needs to be done. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I looked it up. Pez gave Whitting a three year extension in 2023. I wish we had enough baseball fans to start a GoFundMe to raise the money needed to fire Whitting.

If Whitting is terminated before Aug. 1 2024, he will be owed 40% of his remaining base salary and 33% before the same date in 2025, paid monthly. In the final year of his contract, Whitting will be paid $100,000 or “an amount equal to the prorated Base Salary amount remaining,” whichever is less if terminated before Aug. 1, 2026. The head coach will also receive an incentive of $40,000 for every year he is retained

Pez giving him an extension ranks right up there with the time we extended Helton’s contract. At least Helton took us to the Liberty Bowl the year we took that gamble.

Don’t forget about the Holgerson extension when he wasn’t headed anywhere. Pez really was useless when it came to head coach extensions and retaining individuals that had no business keeping their jobs.

He fired the WBB coach, he will do the same with Baseball and softball but not till season is over, I’m sure he has a list of candidates ready to speak with

That’s a drop in the bucket….with our first of the Big 12 money.

Get the right coach and fans will come back….more importantly, good players will come back.

Sideways putting that short list of players that have come through our program is a reminder to all of us of our potential. I remember the crowds in the past. For me living so far away, it is painful to watch ESPN+ and see all the empty seats but I do not blame our fans for lack of interest. Our program has failed miserably to put a quality product on the field. I get to see us fight for a Big 12 playoff spot May 9-11 in Tempe against ASU. However, like many on this thread, the season will not end soon enough.

I went to two games last year, will go to the A&M game with my son this year. Was a season ticket holder for a few years. I will go back to getting season tickets when there is a change.
