2026-27 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

In fairness he did shoot a few last year and he actually has better touch from that stripe than he does from five feet out.
I would not be surprised at all to see Tug shoot some treys especially in pre conference.
And speaking Mercy vs. LJ, I think that is an unfair comparison.
LJ is arguably one of the top five pure shooters to play at UH.
Mercy is stronger and more athletic and has great handles and has the ability to be one of the most complete guards we have ha here…
Not saying he is now, but I think his ceiling is very high.

He took one 3 last year

I remember a few but could be wrong. Regardless it was more than I thought he would. And I standby saying he has a good shooting touch from out there.
That’s obvious just watching pregame warmups.

Right. I used positional height for Kyler yesterday and you ignored it. 6’3.5 is not a tall shooting guard. Anywho, not debating just wanted to see if you would take Kingston or Nate.

:sob: :sob: sometimes i cant tell fif you are trollings

his official barefoot height is 6’3.5… that is huge for a SG…

but why did you use his barefeet height when everyone else is using their shoe height (their listed height)… grimes is 6’4 without shoes… shead and lj are 6’0 without shoes, and Sasser is 6’1 without shoes

weve been using te listed height this whole time… for example im calling davis undersized at pg at 6’1… im highkey okay if his barefoot height is 6’1… but is real barefeet hight likely doesnt have a 6 in the front

6’3.5 is huge for a shooting guard?! 6’4 is big for a shooting guard? 6’5 is big for a shooting guard?! A 6’5 shooting guard would be considered good size, not huge by any stretch. 6’7+ would be what I’d call a “huge” shooting guard. But see 6’4 being “huge” fits your narrative, so that will be the definition for this post. Another post in a few months you’ll call Mercy small and he’s also listed at 6’4 lol We gotta stop the madness man. The way you move the goalpost, use “nuance,” and change the narrative when it suits you is truly masterful. I really do find it entertaining man lol and naming those other guys heights just furthers my point. They’re small for basketball and still elite

I’ve never called Mercy a small guard. If you don’t remember earlier, I was pushing Mercy to be the PG so that we could have an all-big guard lineup 4months ago, with McCarthy, and at the time I thought Harwell was still on the team.

I have nowhere at any point called Mercy a small guard. If anything, look at this thread 20posts up…in the Hadnott versus Mercy convo. I said I wanted Mercy starting because Mercy is a big guard and Hadnott is smaller

i didn’t move the goal post… you just made fake takes…
you using barefoot measurements… when weve been using listed height is what is moving the goalpost (and manipulative)
ie sasser listed is 6’3, sasser barefoot is 6’1

if im honest, i dont even want to argue inches…but imposing size… was your size aan issue for offensive players… his defensive size and rebounding was abundantly clear in edwards film…
you dont have to watch the whole thing, but watch the frist 3 mins and then come back and say edwards is a "small guard"and see how bad a take that is

uncle making fake takes

real pesik takes

from literally the last 48 hours

Nephew, I never said Kyler is small. I said it’s funny you calling a 6’4 shooting guard HUGE. That is an INSANE Statement. Sasser is not 6’3 anywhere and never has been, let’s stop making these up please man.

And my point about Mercy is that you’ll call him small one day. It’s a joke making fun of how often you move the goalpost and change up your arguments to fit your narrative.

See you’ve already changed it to “imposing size” instead of height lmao. You’re too good at this man

please stop!
(keep in mind the options were short or tall)

this is the exact defintion of moving the goal post

the original goal post: is kyler a tall or shorter guard…

your moved goal post: kyler isnt huge for a SG…

the EXACT definition of moving the goal post

Pesik. Nobody in here has ever accused me of moving the goal post. How many people have accused you just in the past week? Lmao
And no I don’t think 6’4 is tall for a shooting guard. I stand by that. You intentionally left out context to fit your narrative. I said he’s not huge because you called him huge. I didn’t say he’s not huge in reference to being tall or not. I didn’t say “well he’s tall, but not huge,” like you’re trying to make it sound.

Bottom line. Kyler is not a tall shooting guard. I wouldn’t call him short, but for a shooting guard he would most definitely be considered undersized by NBA standards. Which, if you recall, is how this convo started. Remember you said “the taller guards aren’t as great at UH because they get more NBA attention.” You insinuated that Kyler was one of those guys. So it matters that he isn’t tall for the NBA. NBA scouts weren’t begging him, nor Nate to come to the league, which is why neither were drafted. Anywho, have a blessed night man. Enjoy the football game

the last week? just you… while you move the goal post…

“undersized by NBA standards.” has nothing to do with this convo

ill try to use an explaination to explain both points very easily:

a 6’1 17pts per sophomore SG isnt getting draft buzz
a 6’4 17 pts per sophmore SG is getting draft buzz

even if 6’4 is undersized for a sg in the NBA

Kyler and Hinton had draft buzz… this was before NIL…sampson has publicly said he wanted both back … kyler was one of those guys, again sampson said kyler covid year is the biggest player “what if” of his tenure here… the NBA wasnt begging for them…but they thought they had 2nd round buzz in a year where 2nd round buzz was better than college… there is a hinton vlog on youtube where he gets emotional after the draft, the mavs told him theyd draft him

also nothing im saying is a hot take, you understand both points…stop moving the goal post
kyler is a tall SG “in college”… tall guard tend to leave earlier… better career is not a good metric for short or tall guards

The “wizard” hard at work! From Coach Bishop X account. His incredible work, molding and reshaping our team, never ceases to amaze me :paw_prints: :muscle:t2: :paw_prints:

P.S. Gentle giant and lil’ Thomas do need to work on their abs/6-packs :upside_down_face:

kingston on the growth trajectory of an average UH sampson guard would have been the best UH guard ever… im including drexler …

whoa there. drexler played only three years. if both he and kingston play five, i’m betting on drexler. drexler could do it all, and he had SIZE. dude, he averaged over 10 rebounds per game his freshman year! he played forward in college, of course, but as we know he had guard skills.

Love Flem but I think you are really going out on the limb there.
He would have been elite barring injury but saying he would have been the best ever at UH is a huge stretch.
And comparing him to Drexler is insane. Glide was not a point guard

context, for @hstaten aswell… clyde was only an all american on his 3rd year and only 2nd team .
and clyde couldnt play 5 years… im confining everyone to the rules of their era … and just college… clyde nba career is not in the mix

clyde even if he played all 4 would have been a 2x all american

Kingston would have likely been a 5x all american… no UH guard has ever gotten more than 1 … it would be hard to say the only UH guard that was a 5x all american wasnt the greatest guard ever

For context! lol

In Clyde’s era stars were playing 4 years or at least 3.

If Kingston played 5 years he would be compared with future NBA players as fr and sophs.

Clyde was as dynamic, tough and gifted as any player we have had. Gauging how he went to the NBA, worked on his game and became a shooter he would have done so sooner with a college three point line.

Man, these transfer guys are heavyweights.

They’re close to 250. These are rebounding bodies for sure.
