He was a dictator, no doubt about it. Had some really weird stances and never budged at all.
I think the new president who came from NDSU is way more hands-on and ordered him around a little more than he was used to. So that might have caused him to actually pull the trigger. He still wont leave til next year tho.
But no @BYUcougarfan , itās overall not unexpected. Heās the right age to retire and was talking about this for some time. He actually had an unexpected severe heart attack like 10 years ago even tho he stays pretty healthy, so heās been talking about this for a while now. He just doesnāt like to give up control. He wanted CyTown and TJ Otzelberger locked in, and now maybe Jimmy Rogers was his final coup dāgras.
Certainly not happy about this. Nobody doubts this at all lol. I think the President MADE him do it. Everyone really likes the new President heās only been on the job a few months.
I think the President also indicated he needs to be more involved with all major athletic decisions, like the tension between CMC and Pollard on allowing Campbell to be more 'irresponsible" with future spending. Basically he wanted to spend future money and move it around, borrow from our future. Essentially, borrow money we donāt have.
Pollard didnt budge on that and I can see both sides. I think the new president probably would have stepped in and given Campbell more leeway.
I can see both sides. Lots of schools are in a financial mess right now because they let football coaches be the tail that wags the dog. We wouldnāt be in the good place we are now without his strict leadership. Ultimately we will see if Rogers can vindicate Pollard letting CMC walk. I think he can.
I know he also feels the conference is finally on stable ground, sans tech whining.

I have no idea what the numbers are, but in my experience, there are a lot of sneaky multi-millionaires from tt and west texas in general. Besides oil and gas, lots of generational land wealth. I think their NIL will continue to grow as inheritances rise and properties are sold off.
Des Moines and Lubbock are pretty close to the same population

There is more money in Lubbock and the surrounding area than people realize. I know- my family is from Plains.

Midland, Texas is about 120 miles from Lubbock and one of the richest cities in the U. S. The Permian Basin oil industry is centered there.

For decades Midland Lee and Odessa Permian had the best High School players money could buy.
When they struck oil up near the Red River, little Old Wichita Falls High School dominated Texas High School Football.

When I was a kid, I was helping my uncle put in fence post on his place outside of Boerne and a friend of his rode in a beat up WWII surplus Jeep. He wore old khaki shirt and pants with a sweaty old hat. After he left my uncle asked if I thought he was poor, rich or in between. I said probably kind of poor. My uncle then told me the guy owned 38 meat packing plants around the country. The truly rich donāt always show it.
BTW, putting in fence posts in my uncles rocky land was a really hard job.
