I saw a few clips on social media, some people putting it out there that UCF has a contingent that wants to change the name to University of Orlando.
Seems like a bad idea.
What do people associate with Orlando? Vacation, Disney World, Universal, etc…

I can’t say the Monster Energy/Big 12 deal is a negotiation failure on the Big 12’s part, but I am underwhelmed at the financial terms, especially given the exposure Monster Energy will have, per the agreement.
It will be interesting to see if the other P4s get their own conference patch deals, and what their financial terms are. My sense is there is a higher market value than what the Big 12 negotiated.

Somewhere on social media, I saw a post that mentioned there may be a marketing part to the deal with Monster - Monster doing the marketing. No idea if that is true.

It’s worth mentioning that Monster SET the market here. Any other college patch deal is essentially laundered donation/NIL money.
Same as an SMU donor handing your players a bag under the table. Just in a repackaged sanitized modern form with a thin veneer legitimate business advertising opportunity.
This Monster deal is literally the first of its kind for a CFB conference. It’s 100% new money w/ no personal rooting interest or stake whatsoever.
We also need to reiterate that if anyone feels one’s own personal brand is worth more, your school is still free to go out and secure their own patch deals, additionally.

They’re renaming the conference that? Yikes.
I’ve heard this patch doesn’t count towards one of the two because it’s joined with the big 12 logo. Any truth to that?
