Not to mention, idk if it’s a great look for a healthcare entity to be spending 10s of millions on something with rising out of pocket costs for patients.

I would not be shocked if it was a hospital group, they seem to be the second biggest industry in Houston, but UT Health is mostly a school, I could see UT MD Anderson, they have a massive advertising budget.
My guess is it will be a business that hires a ton of our grads that does not have great name recognition. I hope it is too expensive for Mack.

I don’t know about that. I’ve been to 2 specialty doctors in their Houston network/locations, a foot doctor and an eye doctor. They are top-notch providers, easily on par with Memorial Hermann and preferable to the Methodist system, to me.

M.D. Anderson Cancer Center? World famous cancer center, but a UT affiliate. Not gonna happen.
Houston’s two major industries are energy and health care. UH already has a branding agreement with the largest nonprofit hospital system in Houston, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The second largest, Houston Methodist Healthcare System, is a sponsor of Rice Athletics.
I would like to see an energy company step up to the plate and sponsor UH athletics. Energy represents the City of Houston and UH is the city’s university (no disrespect intended for Rice and TSU). UH graduates some of the best and brightest minds each year that go into the workforce. A branding agreement that includes an internship is a win-win for both parties. A well known energy company gives the program instant national credibility and recognition. The “Energy Capitol of the World” needs to support higher education and the city’s named college athletic program.

This is not a pretty graphic, but can scroll down to the UH head to head vs Big 12 teams. I am really surprised at how many records are right at .500 for the Coogs - 7 out of 15 (a lot)
PS: Big 12 - TCU can tie up Utah and UCF this season with wins. UH - TCU are tied but do not play regular season.

I’ve watched some highlight videos and mourned something we all lost…
Remember a decade ago when reports of guys flying around would actually get us all to believe? Sigh. Those were some nice summers of false hope.

They were good for the first 70 ish years of the conference!
They just stopped trying in the 70s. Still, they are a uniquely tricky game for us every time, even when they are bad! Not sure why.

Through the end of the 2025 season, the Horned Frogs have a 73–53 Big 12 regular-season record, good for a .579 winning percentage.
Since joining the Big 12 in 2012, West Virginia has actually been a little better than I thought, an overall Big 12 conference record of 60–66 (.476). Would have guessed it was even worse.
TCU is one game ahead of KSU at 72-54 .571
Baylor 72–54 .571
Oklahoma State 71–55 .563
Iowa State 63–63 .500
Kansas 42–84 .333
Texas Tech has gone 59–67 (.468) in Big 12 conference play from 2012–2025

Great rivalry. I remember the Colorado vs. Nebraska games, seems like often around Thanksgiving week? I remember Ralphie running on the field as the snow was falling one year, vs. the Huskers.

WVU is one that struggled, that I thought would do well. I think they had other issues happening on staff and such that coincided with the move making it more challenging for them.
Overall (SWC History), TCU would have a better head to head against Tech and Baylor, but those two got to play TCU a lot in the 70s during TCU’s “dark” days. Started after the coach died in Waco, and followed by two really bad coaches that allowed those two schools to pad their stats. I would include UH in there too, but UH was really good some of those Yeoman years and would have won regardless.

Looks like they’ve held their own overall, for the last 26 years at least. They haven’t been on top, that’s true. They haven’t been in the basement either. Hope we can sneak a win at their place in the November snow.
