2026 is really Year 1 for Fritz

  • 2024 - Fritz took what was given to him by Holgorsen
  • 2025 - Fritz had to go to the portal to fill in the gaps from the Hologersen returners
  • 2026 - Fritz’s first real recruiting class that will set the foundation for UH football going forward arrives on campus.

It took Sampson years until he built a foundation. Fritz’s foundation begins next season.

Keep your heads up CoogFans. Our time is coming. It might’ve not been this year. It for sure wasn’t last year. But it’s coming.

Disagree. Look, year one is always a freebie type of season for any HC. That’s a given.

Year two, while it doesn’t necessarily mean championship or bust, well unless you are Ohio State or Alabama, we should see some progress.

You also factor in the way the transfer portal works these days, you know, being able to essentially buy a whole new team during free agency (that’s what it really is nowadays). Of course not every program has the “resources” to bring in a whole new team, or even a whole new offensive line (Tech).

This some cope. Dude is getting paid big money. Year 1 ok.

Disagree completely. The offensive plays are boring and predictable. It’s one thing to not execute an elaborate play perfectly, it’s another to barely try any and repeat the same boring plays almost every time, including kneeling the ball with :46 seconds left before half time with timeouts left. No intensity when you need it

I hope I’m wrong, but this the best we’re probably gonna get.

You posted this elsewhere. It’s not true. It’s dumb. It’s pointless. Stop it.

And you OP of all people, posting silliness every week about “the path to the CCG.”

You can’t pretend to have championship aspirations, to have a team that should be taken seriously on a national stage, and then post stuff like this.

The Coogs are on the way up. They aren’t there yet, as evidenced by the two horrendous home field choke jobs that have cost them their shot at the CCG.

But, seriously, get out of here with this garbage trying to get Fritz and the staff off the hook for their failures.

That’s not being a fan or even being supportive, that’s being a propagandist.

Last year was year 1. It sucked. It was also year 1 of a ground-floor rebuild. I really don’t know why y’all expected more than this. We’re making great progress.

TCU is also a much better team than some folks were giving them credit for. This isn’t C-USA. Crashing out because we lost to a TCU team that was, by all accounts, a fairly even matchup coming in is unwarranted.

B.S. stop making excuses for his lousy coaching. He may be able to recruit but he has no clue on game day.

I am tired of that conservative bs. You got two time outs and almost a minute, why do you kneel. wtf is that.

:rofl::rofl: He’s 8-3 against a p4 schedule

Here we go again with excuses…and the deferral attitude

Yes, CWF is making progress but he’s laid a giant egg, at home, on three very important occasions.

UNLV- wasn’t prepared at all
WVU- lost as a heavy favorite after being ranked for the 1st time
TCU- once again killed positive momentum on 2 of 3 of team units

The next coach we hire that never suffers an upset will be the first.

I’m also not sure UNLV should be chalked up as underpreparation, in retrospect. That turned out to be a damn good team that we had very little tape on.

The coach, himself, admitted he wasn’t prepared…or over prepared as he called it.

Either way, his schemes didn’t resonate with his players

At least Fritz takes the blame. Holgorsen would have blamed others, he was never responsible for the losses, just the wins.

You have “no clue”….

No, no, you don’t understand. Tulane is famous for historically out-talenting the entire AAC, and especially teams like USC.

The issue is that TCU was literally begging us to win and even then we couldn’t get the win. It was like we were content to just stay close and lose. You cannot see more fckd up coaching then that.

I totally agree. WTF was CWF thinking about other than not FXXING up with a turn-over and / or we get the ball to start second half?

Yep. Four turnovers and we can’t get points. IMO PP coaching. Can’t get one yard for a TD and then throw an interception. Run the FXXing ball and if we don’t get a TD they start on the one YL. 20/20 hindsight, kick the FG on 4th and 1. At least we have BB season to look forward to into 2026.

After Weigman had that long run, we took our foot off gas and settled for a field goal by a kicker who had just crapped his pants a few minutes before. Loser mentality

Im having a hard time understanding what you guys are expecting. We have a damn good defense but below average offense. Our OL is not very good and weve masked that a bit by running with our QB. Our QB is not very good at passing the ball. HC WF is always going to run a conservative ball control offense. This will not change. Im good with winning close games. We are what we are. When our OL gets better then we run better ball control offense. The days of gunslinging are gone while HC WF is leading…and im good with that. Two top 25 visits is better than i expected in year 2.
