2026 is really Year 1 for Fritz

If you had told me we would be 8-3 right now i would not have believed you. What HCWF and his staff have done since they got here is simply remarkable.
What concerns me is seeing our Head Coach in the middle of the field at the UCF game during some of the tv time outs looking at the UCF student section and clearly in awe of the energy they were bringing in. We have got to have a better following. This has to be addressed in a much broader spectrum in IMO.

I think the team can be proud of their record for year 2. Its a shame we wasted a great defensive performance againstTCU. Shame to see some one saying TCU was givng the game away. That’s a slap in the face to the plays made by our defensive unit.
We keep games close. That is exciting football. To be one score away ftom winning is good football. No need to write this year off, it counts and it shows we have good players and coaches. The Big 12 is no joke, we will have to get better to win it

And we will. We have the number 1 prospect in the entire country set to be on campus in January.

A. Again, people mentioning what they don’t like is not complaining. Stop being hypocritical because I’ve seen you numerous times doing the same thing.

B. No one is calling for the firing of any coaches. No one is saying that we suck. No one is saying that we don’t have a respectable record.

People ARE SAYING : “hey didn’t like that, we should try this instead”.

People like you are ASSUMING: see B☝️

I don’t need to go through your post history to know you are one of the most negative posters on this board. Spare me your lecture.

And I STILL believe we have a good team, good players, good coaches.

I just don’t like the timeout call and launching it on 3rd and long.
chris tucker do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth? GIF

My apologies. This was a positive post. I will rescind my statement.

And when was the last time UH had that?

Talented Depth on the OL?

Serious question.

We always adapted to not having good o-linemen.
Whether it be quick passes or rollouts.

I didn’t like the 3rd & goal call from the 3 or the 4th down call that followed it.
That was not Willie Ball at all.

I did not like the way we started yelling “whoooaaa…” on the final drive after we marched down to the TCU 28 with our hair on fire.

Nobody ever won the Kentucky derby yelling, “whooooaaa!!!”

Go watch the final 3 minutes of the Utah vs K State game.

That is how you close out a game. That is how we should have finished our final drive.

Just how many games did you, or the rest of the guys on here complaining about Fritz, predict we would win this season. It seems like most were expecting anywhere from 4 to 6 wins and anything above that would be gravy. Well, we are 8-3 and doing a lot better than expected.

We have an OL built mostly on portal players who, though better than those they replaced, weren’t the creme de la creme of the portal. If I remember correctly, 16 of our 22 starters are portal players. Those freshmen OL that CWF has recruited will take a while to be ready for P4 competition.

Those top notch linemen went to places with more cache and more money. We got the best we could on our budget and our phantom fanbase. Yes, I included the fanbase because it’s hard to sell a kid on coming here and playing in a half empty 40K stadium over playing in a 100K stadium packed with rabid fans.

Fritz had a gameplan based on the talent we have available and ball control. (Oh yeah, I’m aware that when a kid puts on aa UH uniform, some on here expect him to be an all-American type player, regardless of real ability.) If we tried to run an air raid offense with the talent on hand, I think we would not have as good of a record as we do. Our QB has to mostly hurry his passes or be on the run. When he does have time, his receivers seem to have a hard time getting open. How many balls were overthrown or underthrown? How many were dropped? Yeah, those were pass plays and would have been exciting – if they were completed.

When Conner threw that pick in the endzone, he had a open lane to his right, but he forced the pass into double coverage. Whatever the play called was, a QB needs to adapt as the play is being run.

I have complete faith that CWF will have this team competing for the B12 championship sooner than later. But as Coach Yeoman used to say, “The other team has scholarship players too.” Add to that fact that the other teams also have coaches that are paid millions. If we were on the same ground, we would not have lost our DC to TT.

But under completely different spread offenses than what we are trying here now.

That’s my only and biggest concern with Willie.

Our success will completely depend on his ability to recruit, and retain the type of O-Lineman and Depth we have NEVER been able to have here.

That’s it. When it comes to our recruiting, that’s the only thing I focus on with Willie at the helm.

Exactly.
Remember this play:

But wait 3 and 8 we should have passed…
The clear fact is that we have not had four solid quarters all season. That clearly indicates that we still have a long way to go. It also shows everyone on how great HCWF and his staff have been getting us thus far to 8-3.

That big scramble was because nobody was open and he took the chance to run, right? That’s different than the last play before the FG of a designed QB draw.

Not according to the tv analyst. This was clearly a designed play by Nagle. We have this play multiple times but not with the same result. tcu did not expect it, thus great call.

Yea, based on Fritz first season here, people were skeptical of the 2nd season. Was that unreasonable? Game plan based on talent? Did you watch last year, when we had 2 goose eggs? Forced a running game we didn’t have talent to execute. You seem to forget that. Yea, this season turned out better than most anyone expected, but a lot of fans gave up on UH based on last season. Hopefully they’ll be back after this one. Although going 3-3 at home isn’t helping.

XSmithCoog posted a list of the AllBig12 players on Offense, and UH has not a single player.

Thank you for confirming that we have a talent problem on Offense.

The best 2 Defenses that came to our Stadium this season held our Offense thusly:

Tx Tech. 11

TCU. 14

So either we got out-talented or Fritz and Nagle are inept at creating an Offense.

Which one is it?
