I forget nothing. Last year doesn’t matter, it’s this year and we have already exceeded most expectations. Do you remember 1975? We were 2-8, but in 1976 we won the SWC and went to the Cotton Bowl and beat #4 Maryland. 1975 meant nothing in 1976. 2024 means nothing in 2025.
Agreed.
This is a serious question… What are the rules on taking a Knee with 5 mins left in each quarter? Is anyone worried that Fritz is going to start practicing this from now on? Fritz is a good coach, but this is not 2001. Also, I found out that the ball is shaped the way it is, so you can throw it forward.
So Fritz previous stints don’t matter? lol it’s been brought up many many times. How the heck do you evaluate things? Do we recruit not based on previous performance. That’s just silly to say that last year doesn’t matter.
You can’t live in the past. Listen to Coach Sampson, he will tell you that each year is a different team. That goes for football and basketball. Each year presents a new challenge and new opportunity and when you have such a large turnover in personnel as we had between this season and the last, it’s magnifies the difference.
As for Fritz’s stints, yes they matter, they are the reason we hired him. They are the reason I believe he is just what we need at UH.
Bury your head in the sand but fans stayed away probably because of last years performance. That’s just the way it is.
You are changing the subject. I am talking about results on the field, you seem to be talking about attendance. UH attendance usually sucks, regardless of record unless we are playing an important opponent at night.
Take the 2015 season where we went to the Cotton Bowl and beat Florida State. This was our home schedule attendance.
9/5 beat Tennessee Tech 52-24; 30,479
9/26 beat Texas State 59-14; 32,257
10/8 beat SMU 49-28; 25204
10/31 beat Vandy 34-0; 29,565
11/14 beat #25 Memphis 35-34; 42,159
11/27 beat #16 Navy 52-31; 40,562
12/5 beat #20 Temple 24-13 in AAC CCG; 35,721
We had 2 games where we filled the stadium. For the conference championship game we had an announced attendance of only 35,721 and I can tell you from being there that those were inflated numbers. In most of our games the listed attendance was a bit inflated.
The season was great, we had a lot of high scoring, exciting games, but the attendance didn’t reflect what most teams would have had with a similar season.
You were trying to say those that criticized Fritz had no business doing so, I said based on his first year they had reasonable concerns, you said last year doesn’t matter. Maybe in fantasy land.
Yep! Couldnt agree more. Just foolish to throw deep on 3rd and 5 or less when a short pass completion gets the first and moves the chains!
Yes, I think that criticizing Fritz for an 8-3 record when you were expecting a 4-8 or 5-7 record is unwarranted. He has already exceeded your expectation so you should be happy with our record to date and if we beat BU, you should be even happier. I suspect some only come on here to complain.
I said 8 was the FLOOR because
- we landed one of the biggest NIL transfers…and at QB
- this was CWFs second year
- we picked up a TON of playmakers via the NIL transfer portal
- we play in the Big 12…a conference without resident juggernauts. Anyone can beat anyone.
My prediction held through…really, we easily could have 10 wins right now
This…
You find what you look for.
He posted the following from the pre season:
The left red marks are the current ranking for these players.
Now how do we rank?
QB:
Conner 8th
RB:
Dean 6th
TE:
Tanner 2nd
WR:
Amare 3rd
Clearly from reading these stats our offense should be much better.
Why isn’t? Execution in key moments. Our OL is ranked 8th in sacks allowed. It is not great and not bad. teetech is just one less sack allowed.
espn does not have ranking for the OL that I can find.
Here is an interesting stat for defensive players:
Jalen Garner is ranked at 18th. Carlos is at 29th. Kentrell is at 38th. Eddie is at 42nd.
From the BIG12 website:
Offense:
UH is at 11
Passing:
UH is at 10
Rushing:
UH is at 6
Return:
Kick offs
UH is at
Punts:
UH is at 14
Kickoffs:
UH is at 3
Field goals:
UH is at 8
Sacks against:
UH is at 8
Defense:
UH is at 11
Sacks by:
UH is at 8
INTS:
UH is at 6
Fumbles forced:
Houston is at 2
Fumbles recovered:
UH is at 14
Again these stats can be interpreted both ways. What matters is when the players have to deliver. If Nagle was so bad there is no way we would be ranked with these numbers and at 8-3. Some of you (not directed at you) fail to comprehend that these games are won on very few plays be on offense, defense and special teams.
Players have to execute in key moments. The biggest question for me is this and HCWF mentioned it in his post game presser. We were 4/17 on third down. As an OC i will review every of these downs. Compare each play called with each production and find out where we are failing. I know very litte but you can be sure our entire offensive coaching staff has already “dissected it”
The stats tell you that the talent is there. What the stats are not telling you is how Conner has played in the last few games. Our wins and losses reflect our current trend. While it is easy to put the blame on his shoulders we also recognized that his running game plays production has been greatly multiplied vs his passing production. It is also too easy to put the blame on Conner. Are the WR’s, TE’s running the correct routes? I have no doubt that this is contributing to his production.
Yes “YOU” do…
I feel bad for Conner Weigman and his draft stock. Took a ton of hits and no really NFL throws in this run happy take a Knee offense. We are going to have to pay him 1 million for him to stay.
Your not keeping up
Since the ASU game, he’s 60/95 with 8 TD and 6 INT. Jameis Weigman is not putting up pro numbers, and it’s not for lack of opportunity.
It’s for lack of TIME to execute the offense.
He’s an Absolute Baller.
And… it’s “Connor” Weigman.
Show some respect.
The pass rush isn’t making him fumble snaps. He’s regressed hard over the last three games. It’s hard to miss. He has as many interceptions per game over the last three games as he had on the season coming out of the ASU game. We scored less against TCU than any of their other opponents, including Abilene Christian. He’s playing like a liability.
