Navy was just a tough loss to a good team. Personally I don’t have that one very high in my frustrating UH loss rankings.
Edit: seeing that you went to the game though I can understand why it might stand out more to you. One of my least favorite UH games was UH vs UCLA for the same reasons. Seeing Case get hurt in person and having to sit in a sea of douchey UCLA fans was brutal.
Idk why some of y’all act like we were supposed to make the Big 12 CCG. We had a good run. Even if we end the regular season 8-4, that’s massive progress from last year. Most of us expected a bowl game & anything beyond that was a plus.
We’re still in the middle of a rebuild. Rome wasn’t built overnight, & it damn sure didn’t have to deal with $NIL either. Be patient. We have the right guy leading this program, just not all the right Joe’s (yet). Next year, 10 wins is the standard. 2027, we should expect a Big 12 Title. It takes time.
Right. My point is, if a psychic told us all back in July that were were gonna end the season 8-4, I’m sure no one would’ve been upset with that outcome. But it’s HOW this season played out that gave so many false hope.
I think too many of us are blinded by our 2 “winnable losses” that we forget all about our 3, easily “losable wins”. We had some luck throughout the season & injuries took a toll on us offensively. Also, losing Coach Hester clearly had a major impact on the team & the staff.
Despite that, this team has already exceeded expectations. We have to keep supporting them regardless. As we saw with Jayden Warren, fan support can affect our ability to recruit effectively. We HAVE TO do our part.
It is what it is. If we’re being honest with ourselves, this was never a 10, or even an 11 win roster.
It took TWO blocked field goals to beat (2-9) Oregon State
We needed a walk-off FG to beat Arizona
ASU: didn’t have Jordyn Tyson, missed 2 FGs, had a TD called back bc the WR was lined up 1yd behind the LOS, Leavitt fumbled a pass forward, & we STILL almost blew it. Sanchez missed that FG at the end & we got saved by a penalty. Oh, and Leavitt got hurt.
All 3 of those games could’ve easily been losses. We’re just as close to being (5-6) as we are to (10-1). I’m not gonna cry about (8-3)
Yeah, the eye test and the stats agree we’re about where we should be, and that we’ve maybe even overachieved a little. We should probably beat Baylor, but if this is our karmic tradeoff for winning the Arizona game, so be it. This does need to be a get right game for our offense, though. Baylor’s defense is garbage.
I’d say we’re really building to ‘27 and ‘28. That’s when we should be loaded and have the marquee non-conference opportunities to really make some noise nationally.
