The value of Harwell keeps your NIL budget from exploding with another 5-star.
Wouldnāt be surprised if Harwell leaves. Completely has fallen out of the rotation. This season has gone about as bad as it can go for him and the two guys that took his bench minutes McCarty and Mercy will both be expected back next year. Harwell is a long way from home. I know heās had some health issues in the past that likely affected his form this year so it would be epic if he worked his butt off this off season and exploded on the scene for us next year I just donāt know if itās fair to expect that. Wouldnāt blame him for leaving
Mercy was worse last year than Harwell is this year. Mercy shooting % in the Big 12 last year was 0.00!
This isnāt new, but I stumbled across it and thought some of you might find it interestingā¦.
Kind of an āoh really
ā type thing.
Kelvin has called him a clone of Jamal
Holt was not coming here. It takes special players that want to play defense and play for Sampson. Arizona must be paying the big bucks. Money won here.
Pretty sure Holt is exactly the type of player we wanted we just didnāt get him. No worries, Iād rather play with an older and more experienced roster with transfers than to do this crazy 5 star freshman plug and play style every year.
I watched another game between Alozieās team vs Dybantsaās, and I can see why Sampson sees him as a Shead clone. They have a similar build and heās a pest on the defensive end.
Offensively he forced quite a few shots and got caught in the air down low against bigger players where he threw up somewhat erratic shots at times. Yes, he reminds me a lot of Shead as a freshman.
Alozieās shooting stroke is decent but not smooth. Like Shead, it needs some work. His strength, also like Shead, is using his bullish athletic build to get to the rack.
It was just one game, but Alozie missed quite a few chippers when taking it to the rim. He actually tried several times throwing down dunks after getting past defenders, but got turned away a few times. Like Shead as a freshman, heās need to learn how to play with discipline. Thatās something heāll get from Sampson over time.
After watching him play, Iām actually hoping Sampson brings in an experienced PG next year to allow Alozie time to develop. This kid shows great potential but he does not appear to be on the same level as Flemmings. Then again, not many players at the collegiate level compare to him.
Any chance we get Meloās kid if he doesnāt go pro? Cuse just fired Autry
You could be absolutely correct about Alozie. But your comments brought to mind EVERYONEās assessment of Flemings leading up to the start of this season. The universally accepted scenario (outside of the Houston staff perhaps) was that King would come in and contribute but would sit behind Milos and learn, THEN would assume the reigns next year.
NOBODY had King being a Top 5 draft choice this year.
Regardless, though, it will be fun to watch how it plays out.
I think fansā perception of Flemings were too strongly tied to how UH used Shead his freshman year. Flemings play justified he had to be on the court and start.
I watched several games with Flemings and never came away thinking he wouldnāt start. Again, Iāve only seen one game with Alozie, so small scale.
He looks pretty athletic but unpolished as a shooter. He
looks very much like Shead coming out of HS. Hope Iām wrong and he turns out to be starter material, but he didnāt look like he was on the same level as Flemings, and thatās okay. Not many players are.
Iāll be happy if he just has a Shead like carrer

History repeating itself?
