I think CWF knows what he is doing since none of us are a D1 (or other) head football coach.
We will put out feelers to recruits from Florida (we signed a linebacker from Florida in the last class), California, etc., but the bulk of our classes will come from Texas and Louisiana, which is the way to go, IMO. Texas has more players sign scholarships than any state, and Louisiana has the most sign per capita. Right now we have 13 commits (hopefully 14 by this evening) with 10 from Texas, 3 from Louisiana.
It seems that some folks on here need a little reality check.
Given UH’s relatively weak fan-base, our historically underfunded athletics program (compared to other Big12 programs in Texas and other programs in P4 conferences) and our underfunded NIL collective, it seems to me that if UH can approach a Top 40-50 level of recruiting, we will be doing very, very well.
Just a reminder that from a revenue and fan-base standpoint, we are currently ranked at the bottom of all of the P4 conferences - which places us somewhere around No. 60-70 in the nation.
Winning and our development of 3 star rated talent will help to build us up. Additionally, more fans and increased funding can also help to build us up.
[NOTE: I didn’t intend to reply to LumberjackWeezy, but rather to make a general post.]
No…CWF is doing ok…but he does NOT have us as a top 5 Recruiting class in the P4.
Yes! We are P4 so those G5 excuses need to stop.
We are getting outrecruited by freaking Baylor and Texas Tech.
IF …CWF truly believes that Houston IS the EPICENTER of college football talent on PLANET EARTH and WE are the only P4 school IN that epicenter then Surely having a top 5 Recruiting class is not a ridiculous take.
Instead…what are we…40s 50s 60s?
Embarassing take by CWF.
He needs to back it up
You can get pretty far with good coaching, scheme, and development. We did it in basketball. And while it is extremely more difficult in football, we’ve been ranked in the Top 10 in the AP at a point within the last decade. We did not have a Top 30 class at that time.
On top of that, the playoffs will be moving to 16-teams with our conference guaranteed at least one spot. If we can get into the playoffs then we get on the national stage. We’re not winning it all this year. That’s not the point. The point is to make strides every year.
We are being out recruited by BU and TT, long established P5 programs. Please give us time and real conference money to catch up. hat begins this season.
…and the excuses never end.
It’s like a never ending loop.
This is year 3 in the P4…SMU found a way to the post season in Year ONE and in a conference with Florida State, Clemson & Miami and we are fretting about Baylor…Baylor???
What’s the excuse for only winning only 2 Conference Championships in CUSA & AAC sitting in the middle of the epicenter of college football talent in this galaxy?
I have an appreciation for the fact that CDH had no concern for relationship building with local coaches. In fact many of us on this board remember the “that ship has sailed comment” that irritated most of us and our Administration. When other coaches are years ahead of us with building relationships with area football coaches, it simply will take time. The progress we are making in keeping local recruits is very clear. As CWF continues, the next step is an improved product on the field which will result in more wins and more filled seats.
Great point highlighting SMU’s quick turnaround
I hate it when people confuse facts for excuses.
Coach Yeoman recruited EXACTLY like Coach Fritz is doing it.
Looked it up. My golly Ned! We won lots of games and finished in The Top Ten numerous, numerous times. Defeated The Longhorns in Austin, The Aggies in College Station, The Razorbacks in Fayetteville, UCLA in The Rose Bowl, undefeated Maryland in The Cotton Bowl, Archie Manning and Ole Miss in Jackson, Mich. St. in East Lansing,on and on.
And Yeoman never got on a Plane.
What is Coach Fritz thinking?
Warren commit yet on 713 day?
Great news. Beautiful
None of us are talking about heavy UH recruiting in CA, FL or GA. From my standpoint, reach out and see if there is any interest. A recruit may have a relative or some connection to Houston that the coaches are not aware of. If UH can snag a 4 or 5
from these academies every 5 years, that makes the effort worth it.
I am thrilled Houston area coaches are taking us seriously again. Fully agree with you as we celebrate another local boom.
So are you saying you’re no longer a CoogFan?
Nice shout out to M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital by Warren. Warren’s mother works at MDACH. Keeping talent home.
Big12 is killing it right now. Wow. I’m sure SE(SPN)C will somehow find a way to devalue us though when it comes to rankings.
