I wouldn’t say he doesn’t need money but his family certainly doesn’t and that’s typically a big motivator for guys leaving early. They’re not just motivated to earn for themselves but to be able to help out their parents/relatives. Now with that said, I’m sure with NIL the Manning kid is making 7 figures so it’s not like he’s missing out on much money anyway.

Exactly. We have some posters who think all you have to do is snap your fingers and we instantly become a playoff contender.
I have never built a college football program, but I do know the realities of how hard it is. Some posters also don’t know how to build a college football program and it shows. If it was easy, everybody would do it.
Every single season, every fanbase of every program thinks their team has a chance to win their respective conference
every game seems winnable
I don’t know if you saw the posts, but I’m referring to posters who claim we are accepting mediocrity by “settling” for an improvement this year. The only acceptable outcome of the season is a conference championship and a playoff birth. Everything else is a failure.
It’s interesting because I feel like us UH fans always hold our program to the highest standards. We just assume that our program has the ability to dominate the conference despite the struggles we had
It’s not like the SEC/B1G where the same usual teams are generally contending.
UH could join the SEC, B1G, or go back to the AAC, and we still have these expectations that the conference belongs to us
I don’t know what it is. Is it the potential? Is it the city of Houston? Is it the past?
We’re just a little delusional imo. We view are bad seasons as aberrations and our great seasons as the true reflection of what we should be as a program. In reality, over the last two decades we’ve basically averaged out to a 5-3 program in league play. Ultimately that wouldn’t be a bad level to reach in the Big 12 but if you ask people here that would probably be disappointing to most.
Probably a little of each mixed together with a BIG dose of naivety and ignorance.
I am not sure if this is still the rule, but the NFL prohibited teams from drafting players until after their junior year. That’s actually the 3rd year, regardless of redshirt status.
Biggest issue is losing head coaches after some success and following it up with a bad hire.
@red80, It is 3 years removed from their high school graduation. That could mean a junior or redshirt sophomore.
Yes, that’s why I included this comment, “That’s actually the 3rd year, regardless of redshirt status.”
OK, I’m getting restless. We haven’t had a boom since Sunday.
I hope we get a few more nuclear booms and finish strong.
Too late for that, we need government intervention to make it fair again for all schools.
No it would stand because you’re not saying players can’t go to another school. You’re simply saying they can’t transfer more than once because of NIL. If they have a waivers for certain situations it becomes harder for it not to stand up in court.
I am interested to see how the College Sports Commission and the NCAA coexist.
Expect a lot of high profile NILs to be rejected by the College Sports Commission. Colleges will understandably push the boundaries to see what is allowed by the Commission. It will take a year to see where the sweet spot is.
Mike, kids like to announce on the weekends. Booms should be coming on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
When have they ever made anything better?
