2026 Recruiting

I agree with all the above. I just worry about Sanford hitting the portal. I’ve seen so many guys hit the portal after a season ending injury recently. And even if he stays, will he ever be the same given the fact that he’s torn both ACLs now? It’s a sad situation either way. I really had (& still do) high hopes for him.

I hope to not see #75 get thrown into Weigman’s face on pass plays in the future.

It’s happening way too often. Ndukwe going down is so unfortunate. We don’t have very many (proven) options to replace him either. But at this point, you gotta start giving other guys some 1st team reps in practice just in case he stinks it up again against Arizona.

Burnette has a lot of promise but he’s more of a traditional power back imo. Would still be nice to get someone like Connors who’s a little more versatile.

Don’t forget John Hebert. I doubt him or Paris will get much playing time their freshmen year. I do think that Paris is more of a nickel WR/weapon that can be used in many different ways. Next year’s team will still be portal heavy since we need to replace many outgoing seniors and don’t want to play a bunch of freshmen. The 2027 season is what I’m excited for.

Also, man I hope Austin Carlisle converts to WR instead of transferring out. He’s lightning quick. If Weigman stays, then we’ll likely transition directly from him to Henderson in 2027.

I was thinking about Austin and what his future might be like. Dean Connors is going to the pros. What’s special about Dean is his vision, his football IQ that allows him to see holes that few see. On top of that he has great hands. Austin has great football IQ too and a great “need for speed” Could he still play QB? Of course he can but what a great opportunity to convert to RB/WR? With Keisean and Austin just imagine the possibility. Our offense might be renamed TOP GUN, yes Maverick and Iceman.

I think he’ll be an amazing slot wr who can run the ball in curls & trick plays.

If Weigman returns i could see him switching positions next year.

He sure can but a 10 seconds runner as a RB with his vision is deadly. Writing that we ought to improve our OL through coaching and recruits. That is paramount.

Speaking of running backs i’ve heard the kid we landed for 2026 is pretty special.

Another player who will be a stud is Paris Melvin. Reminds me of Percy Harvin.

CW has another year of eligibility. 80-90% chance he will be back for 1 more year while KH Redshirts, goes through a year of Conditioning (getting stronger), internalizes the playbook, gets practice reps in the system, and learns the college game under Willie and Staff. That would be ideal.

Him being 23 is a non-factor. IMO…

KH can play in 4 games, as the #2, and keep his Redshirt.

Why was anyone “idealize” any other scenario?

Plenty of good G5 RBs that deserve to move up to P4. You just need to identify them and pay them.

Given UH’s returning talent at RB, it makes more sense to spend money on OL and DL.

That would be my plan every year, with tweaks for positions of need.

I don’t think Austin has the build to play RB. He’ll get beat up fast.

I don’t want to get too ahead when it comes to UH future QBs but UH is close to landing Carson White out of Iowa Colony and teammate of Jayden Warren the 4 star WR in the c/o '26.

Carson has track speed and plays baseball in HS, also. Can also sling it, too!

Weigman definitely has a shot at being drafted and could be pretty high.

NCAA grants eligibility exception to JUCO, NAIA athletes

The NCAA Division I Board of Directors has approved a waiver that will allow certain student-athletes from non-NCAA institutions such as NAIA programs and junior colleges to compete in the 2025-26 academic year, even if they would have otherwise exhausted their eligibility during 2024-25.

So far, his competition hasn’t given him much to brag about and when you add in his injury history, it could give pro scouts and GMs a bit of uncertainty. Like I said, that could change if he has some really good games down the stretch.

Speaking about UH QBs, Clayton Tune is at Green Bay.

Yeah, I remember it now. I will use the old guy memory card.

He has the size and the arm and really good athleticism and that’s what they evaluate. He keeps progressing here will be in great shape. Needs to stay healthy for this season.
