2026 Recruiting

One thing that seems to be true is that our Recruiting is improving.

2026 superior to 2025, and to other years in recent memory.

As Harrison-Pilot’s father, he didn’t take a bag, he was forced out. He went thru spring with a partially torn patella tendon and was told by the new regime, they didn’t see enough in him to keep him around! My son never wanted to leave UH, but in a world where you can upgrade your roster immediately, they chose not to retain him. Willie came in and added a lot of upperclassmen via the portal in his 1st season which to me says he was trying to win immediately and didn’t have time to develop. Furthermore if you look at the 23 class, majority of them are gone because they were pushed out or didn’t fit within the scheme of the new regime. If you have anymore questions or assumptions about mine, please feel free to message me. Thank you

Just like teams say “next man up” when a player gets injured, the same is true in recruiting. Any WR UH signs will have the same opportunity that Warren would have had, had Warren remained committed.

You never know who will emerge as a leader. It could be a 5 star or 3 star player. The only constants are focus, hard work and commitment.

Unfortunately is the new way of doing things in the portal era.

You’re a Coog. And I’m sure you see the game threads. You think our fans are going to let Willie develop? There are dudes still saying how incompetent our OC is. Even with an 8-3 record right now.

Definitely the way of the world now. I think they will keep filling talent gaps in the portal while bringing in their hs kids to develop.

From a football perspective, I would love to see us go back to a wide open offense with tempo control. Know when to go fast and know when to slow it down. Houston has always been successful with finding athletic o lineman that were under the radar but had basketball backgrounds. There’s enough skill guys in Houston to loose out on guys to other programs like the most recent kid.

At the end of the day, CWF is going to do it the way he knows and hopefully it works and if not, he’s open to new age football.

Man, I hate to hear this. I know that coaches have to run their programs the way they feel they need to do it, but I feel like the roster is big enough to figure out how to keep legacies in the program.

I just hope you stick with us. But your son is definitely more important than this program. Really hate hearing a legacy kid being forced out. And I hope he finds success. Rooting on MHP.

Blame this microwave era. Everyone wants success now. And no wants to wait. So development is more rare. It sucks. But it is also why I am not crying over losing Warren. Just go hunt his replacement in the portal.

There was an initial sting but there’s no love lost. I still root for the Coogs except against Tech. Houston will always have potential, just have to find the consistency to take it to the next level.

Focus on who we have committed. UH commits have been flipping for decades so nothing new here. Can’t lose something when it’s not ours yet. Don’t waste your energy getting upset about it.

I will forever be a Coog! Mikal is happy and thriving in Lubbock. Hate the way it went down but no one could’ve projected this being the new era of football 5 years ago!

That is correct, if you have a consistent program you can plug and play portal guys while develop. These coaches are guaranteeing that they can do this and that in a short time, so now they are held to the fire. It sucks on both sides of the spectrum. You win at the level you commit to or you’re fired. If you are a player you strike lighting in a bottle or you’re probably not coming back.

There are few schools that do not force kids out. Now they will help them if they want to leave but not all coaches are forcing kids out.

Then go “make your bank”.

Let us know how it goes. While you’re at it, don’t forget to donate back to UH Football.

Sorry that happened to your son. Is he still playing football somewhere?

He’s currently playing safety at Texas Tech. Still learning the position but is enjoying his time in Lubbock!

That’s great. Happy for both of you.

Hope your Son has a great career, more importantly, a great life. Sounds like he has a great Father.

That’s fair. But my sentiment still stands w/ the others I mentioned

Looked at your Son’s bio on the Texas Tech Football Web Page.

Looks like the Coogs lost a good one.

Consensus 4-star out of high school and Army All America bowl.
