2026 Recruiting

All good, I just think sometimes as fans (including myself) think it has something to do with NIL. Now don’t get me wrong that is going on, but scheme fit and who recruited you plays a part as well.

He said something along the lines of, he chose A&M bc of Elko & their fanbase as the difference makers. I’m sure NIL played a factor (big or small), but the glaring part of that statement was the fanbase portion. Kids are impressionable & we need to understand that and show up to the games. That stuff absolutely matters in recruiting.

I still think we need WR help because other than Thomas the other guys have struggled getting open and it was the same last year.

So very true…just read a game thread. You’d think we’re 1-10 coming off a Natty

Is it that the WRs just aren’t talented enough to get open

or

is it bc our offensive line doesn’t give them enough time to get open & thus, limits the types of routes you can dial up as the offensive coordinator?

Think it’s both.

Plenty of WR targets still out there in HS & the TP. I agree, we’ll be fine :man_shrugging:t5:

This…

IMO

Idk man. Koby Young can separate. We’ve seen that on several occasions this year. Him & Weigman just haven’t connected much. But in order to throw that deep ball, Weigman needs protection. And I think bc of our shaky line, Nagle is hesitant to dial up those deep shots.

The IOL were getting it handed to them yesterday which is why we saw Weigman scrambling outside so much because he had no pocket to step into to throw the ball.

I thought Weigman had so much space to scramble bc they were bracketing Koziol & Thomas. They didn’t even bother to spy Weigman much

It absolutely matters. Our game day is like that of a C-USA game compared to aggy.

All the best to your son. I hope he exceeds his goals both personally and professionally.

Out of curiosity, what would happen if he had said thanks but I’m good and didn’t enter the portal?

How were you “proven right?”

He was told he can stay and be a walk on but will never play here.

I remember saying something about our fanbase and attendance struggles affecting the game and players.

Fanbase is more important than people think, it creates an atmosphere that players want to be in, want to celebrate and embrace. Helps increase the NIL pool, makes home games an advantage (looking at 3-3 this year), brings more attention to the university because players and students want to be a part of something great and energetic.

Don’t even know what aspect of the “Fanbase” Jayden Warren is talking about, and how big of a factor it was, but it was enough to scare off a potentially great receiver.

He was done the weekend he took the A&M trip - trust me on that

I always rooted for MHP and was super excited to have him on board. Was bummed that it didn’t work out at Houston (especially with him being a legacy).

I wish him all the best going forward.

But everyone already knows that UH doesn’t have a good fanbase. That’s not new information.
