2026 Recruiting

He hasn’t been given the starting job, but everyone expects him to win it just as everyone in Austin expected Arch Manning, a five-star recruit a few years ago, to be the next QB at UT. Kei is ranked the #1 player in the state and one of the top three players in the country. The only recruit we’ve ever signed who was rated higher (slightly) was Ed Oliver, who started as a true freshman and won the Outland Trophy. We have a junior, Zeon Chriss, a true freshman, Austin Carlisle, and an impressive freshman walk on, Indiana Wijay, plus future recruits will understand that a QB of Kei’s caliber probably isn’t going to stay in college for four or five years.

Please. I don’t see other schools having trouble recruiting quarterbacks. We will be fine. If he is what is billed, he will not be here long, he will be in the NFL. It is okay. We can have nice things too.

If Henderson is that good, those questions don’t matter.

I’d be totally surprised and greatly disappointed if any of our recruits were afraid of competition and/or expecting to start as a result of a promise without earning it or anointed by Internet warrior couch coaches.

But that’s just me.

Sounds like we’ve got a good one. Just need to make sure we’ve got the line up to par so that he’s able to come in and play to the best of his ability.

QB is a different position though - if this kid does stay and play 3-4 years no other qb with similar talent is going to sit unless paid to sit or their dream is to strictly play for UH

Arch Manning wasn’t sitting for free by no means

Arch wanted to be a Texas Longhorn since he was young. It wasn’t a highest bidder situation. He was also being paid to stay and sit, and wait his turn. He also came when Texas moved to the SEC. Excitement all around.

Arch is a rich man through NIL and it is his team now. Lets see what he can do being “The Man”.

Ought to be banned by the family.

Each situation is different. I was making a generalization, maybe too wide of one.

Generally speaking, elite players aren’t afraid of competing.

But, PT, especially down the road PT, can be a factor. Our QB situation coming into this year, vis-a-vis PT this year is different than a program that is already loaded at QB. QBs don’t get rotated like any other position.

Doesn’t really matter to me. We can worry about that in 3 years after Henderson has taken us to the promised land.

And coach… I bet Willie wins at least 8 this season.

Isn’t NIL capped with respect to big donors/collectives paying millions for players starting 7/1/25?

I thought the schools get the $21 million or so and that’s it… and then you can get real NIL deals, too… right?

Teammate of four-star WR Jayden Warren.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

But also remember, nothing has ever stopped the UT-Austin’s of the world from paying players over and above any “proposed” limitations.

Sure… but TECHNICALLY that would violate rules moving forward as I understand and TECHNICALLY a school could be put on probation.
