NGL, Im scared to pick ISU getting to the E8, they keep burning me. Do you feel good about this year being different?

The wise choice is to feel like they won’t do it. I can’t in good faith tell you to pick ISU to make the EE. I do think this year is different tho. I’ll give you both sides.
The challenge of UK is self-explanatory. I’m hoping for a Santa Clara upset, but I’m not particularly scared of UK either. I’d pick ISU to make the SS. BUT You also have to take into account UK will out-represent ISU in St Louis. This presents a rare and unique challenge, one we’ve overcome with Wisconsin 5 years ago in Milwaukee. But UK will outdraw us in STL. You can book that.
If u JUST look at the SS draw, not the road as a whole, i think you couldn’t have asked for a better draw than Virginia/Tennessee on paper. Will that be enough? The EE is a huge mental hurdle for us. We’re conditioned to choke here and the players will be unfortunately aware of that. I actually feel better against Michigan should we make the EE than UVA/Tenn in the SS. That’s how big this mental hurdle is.
I think Virginia is underrated and can give us problems in the front court. The positive there is ISU would essentially have another home game, like KC. That would be huge, you can’t discount that. But the opponent itself is a very tough and formidable matchup. We bring the same things to the table. I think we’re a little more atheltic, but both teams rely on strength and smart clutch play. It’s kind of a mirror situation.
I think we’re noticeably better than Tennessee. HOWEVER, the home court advantage goes out the window to a big extent. It’s like an 8 hr drive or less for many of their fans to our 5 or 6. Their fans will show up.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but one of Bama’s star players just got busted for like a pound of pot, and will likely be unavailable.
I only have them winning their first round game in my bracket, but for those of you whose brackets have Bama going deep…pay close attention!

I had Bama making it to the S16, but losing to Michigan.
Jay Bilas has Arizona beating Michigan State for the championship. Michigan State won’t come close to the finals.

I have ISU beating Kentucky, IF Kentucky doesn’t get upset in the first game. Kentucky has plenty if talent, as usual, but I’ve never been impressed with Pope as a coach. Yep, I think ISU’s defense puts the clamps on that offense, which relies on athleticism and the transition game for scoring, much the way Sampson did when Pope coached at BYU.

Even that is a little ridiculous. I believe the lowest seed to ever win is a 8 seed so historically 32 out of the 68 teams even have a shot at winning, why expand to more teams that have zero shot at actually doing anything?! Sure, a couple of 11 seeds have made runs to the final 4 which is cool but there’s no need for more
