2026 Selection Sunday

Which is problematic because the teams I’d like to see get a shot aren’t p5 teams. Let’s get UVU in, I don’t care if Texas or Cincy sneaks in. Their conferences already have a million bids.

TV isn’t driven by the UVU’s or Texas State’s of the world though.

Well, that money also flows to those “no chance” schools, some of which manage to make it to the 2nd weekend almost every year. If we’re going to exclude teams from participating in a national championship contest based on historical failures at the highest level, then there are a lot of programs that should just shut it down.

I agree with this 100%. Aside from watching our own teams advancing, what makes this the best sports event is those inevitable upsets by teams that people think shouldn’t even be there. Most people probably watch the tournament to see upsets by fringe teams, at least in the first couple of rounds.

Yup. It is why this weekend (Thursday through Sunday) is the best sporting weekend of the entire year.

Seems like CKS knew we would be playing A$M, and giving the host to Rice and UH pulling out let us have South in Houston. He seems like a magician pulling strings.

Maybe they can put a % cap on the number of teams from a conference, to prevent say, the 11th team from a 16 team league getting in?

What do you not like TV ratings?

Idk. I’m not so sure A&M beat St. Mary’s. Big contrast in styles. A&M’s new coach likes to get out in transition aftet pressing and creating turnovers, while St. Mary’s plays a slow pace game much like Houston. St. Mary’s is a good rebounding team, which is why they recently beat Gonzaga. They don’t allow a lot of second chance points. If you prevent A&M I’m getting up a lot of second chance shots by controlling the boards, then you limit A&M’s chances of winning.

St Mary’s style is very similar to us, except we are St Mary’s “on steroids” :sunglasses::rofl::crazy_face:

The ratings will be good regardless of whether it’s the 12th best ACC playing (with a .500 record) or the 3rd best WCC team (with an actual winning record).

I assumed you were referring to SEC teams
