2026 UH Baseball

No money

All the investment is (and rightfully so) going to football / basketball

They had enough money to re-sign him after the 2023 season. He should have been gone after the 2021 season.

Yeah, I’m not buying that excuse. We could definitely have hired someone cheaper who would have at least delivered similar results, if not better. Either way we would have come out ahead.

Coaching searches cost money, and you can’t just keep hiring and firing every 2 years.

If you go for an above average coach, then they will likely have expectations (“I will take the job subject to being promised facility upgrades, more NIL support, etc.”)

If you go for a similar or cheaper coach, then you would just be wasting money from what it took to get the coach here in the first place.

Todd Whittington needs firing, I agree. But the logistics at the moment don’t make much sense.

No, what doesn’t make any sense is continuing to reward incompetence bury the program even deeper. He won’t get another contract here, and we’ll be better off for it.

I think he’s a goner after this year, but it’s going to be another rebuild whoever we hire

We won’t get M64 right away

You don’t need a coaching search man
.you can get in the car, drive three hours west on I-10
.then hop
On I-35 and interview another.,that’s two really good coaches, and fly a couple in, one from LA and another from South Carolina
.this does not take some National Search
.

You are thinking this is like replacing a basketball or football coach
.its not.

College baseball
Is a different animal.

And no it’s not gonna take long to be back in regionals with the right coach.

Two years tops.

You may be right, but I’d be shocked if our admin. didn’t at least nominally/notionally call for a “national” search.

if we can’t afford to compete in baseball then we should shut down the program and put the money towards Women’s Beach Volleyball

Maybe gymnastics

Wrestling or bowling has my vote.

I wrestled in HS and enjoyed it maybe even more than baseball.

Awesome sport that teaches so many life lessons.

Would love to see a wrestling team
.although you think we get our butts whipped in baseball you don’t even want to see what the boys from Oklahoma st, Arizona St and Iowa st would do to us. :grimacing:

Wrestling is a sport that will let you know immediately whether you are in shape or not. Some of the longest two minutes of my life back in HS.

Because you got the pin right?

And you are so right
.i forced my son to wrestling his first two years of HS and it really helped with his agility on the baseball field.

It also gave him a huge boost of self confidence and taught him to never take sh-t off of anyone no matter how big they were.

Noble was fired for “mistreating” a player after said player’s dad created a stem winder of a word document Web page at “fireraynernoble.com” and the AD at the time freaked out. It was more BS than the Mike Leach thing with Craig James.

I hadn’t thought about that comparison, but there are a lot of similarities, and the programs both suffered greatly because of it.

Yeah it was mostly to do with inadequate playing time and not properly developing his slider.

Meanwhile I remember many games where ol’ Vinny was behind home plate with his son’s girlfriend (UH basketball player Megan Morton) sitting on his knee. Just an all around weird creepy dude.

If that had anything to do with Noble’s firing, then Mack Rhoades deserves as much mockery as Vinny got. All Vinny’s “epic rant” did was make him look foolish and embarrass Jimmy. It wasn’t Noble’s fault that Jimmy wasn’t as good as Vinny thought he could be.
