We have developed players taking over this season and will have more in succession after them. He is building the best roster and program for success.

I would argue it was the lack of a post game and rebounding that hurt us the most and not the youth of last yearâs team.
If we had brought in a real post player with the $ we spent on Harwell then last year couldâve been special even with the 2 frosh starters that actually contributed to the teamâs successâŠ

It would not surprise me to see Kelvin coach UH for another 3-5 years or moreâŠand then stay on as a part time assistant/consultant to assist his son and his daughter.
Leading UH to a 
national championship might make for a great time for him to retire.

We had our chance to win a natty, gave up double digits in the half and didnât get a shot up to win the game.
And nothing about this yearâs team screams national champion. And donât give me the âanything can happenâ.
I think he knows that he doesnât need a natty to solidify his greatness and 28+ win seasons, finishing top 3 in the big 12 and playing in the second weekend of the NCAA tournament is still a solid accomplishment this late in his career.

I agree which is why I think he could very well continue for several more years. Just sayinâ that a Natty might give him cause to step down soonerâŠand let his son take over.

Ikenna Alozie a frosh this year and another 6â 2 CG was rated the#59 recruit in the a nation.

I will make a prediction. This years team will be better than last years. AND in no way am I equating it to a âanything can happenâ type of team.

They may be better than last yearâs team, and they may not be.
Either way, it will be a great season.
As long as Sampson is our coach, we will have teams that win lots of games and go at least to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament.

Yes, UH being a regular Sweet 16 participant in the NCAA tourney after sitting out the tourney for how long (~30 years?) is like a dream come true.

While itâs true that I have learned to enjoy, and respect, the ride that has been UH Basketball under CKS⊠GREATNESS is measured in championships and THE HOUSTON COUGARS under CKS deserve to be remembered as a GREAT PROGRAM and not as the guys that could get very close but never could get over the top.
CKS will coach until he wins a natty or falls down trying imo.

Itâs going to be a different team regardless. We went from a team with a bunch of guys whoâd been in the program forever to a much younger team, and now to a team with many vets from outside the program. Who knows how everyone will gel.

JâWans leadership and physical effort was a huge factor. I saw a drop off of intensity last year with our inside game. Iâll add Francis too

I respectfully disagree. The current UH basketball program is unquestionably already a âGREATâ program and I believe that is thought of that way by most any reasonably minded college fan in America. UH is currently ranked among the greatest programs in college which is reflected by the fact that weâve been fairly consistently voted into the Top 10 in the national polls.

Replacing Cryer with King, i would say it was a success.
We completely missed on the other ones.
JWan with Cenac. Miss. Some fans dont see it as a miss because he was drafted. It was a miss to me because that spot determines a lot for us on offense and defense
Francis/Mylik with Harwell/Sahko. Big misses.

I consider Mercy, Cha$e and Jojo all vets of the program⊠so 3/5 of the starters are on at least their 3rd season in the Coogs program and DJ & Recc are SEASONED vets that are hungry to prove what they can do at this levelâŠ

I guess you are evaluating this years squad based on what you think they will be on paper? Well, anyone who thought Michiganâs NC team was considered a strong Final 4 team BEFORE the season was smoking some really good reefer. That team did not project that high. Dusty May put together a genius roster build but based on the guys he brought in it DID NOT blow you away and yetâŠ
This team is sneaky good. Time will tell and I could be wrong but I am getting a real good feeling about this group of players.

I donât think Cenac was a missâŠ.to me itâs not really fair when you consider he replaced a guy that had been in the system for 11 years.
But your comparison of Francis/Wilson to Harwell/Sahko being a âbig missâ is spot on.
Yes, those guys had been in the program awhile, but had Harwell and Sahko been better than what they were it could have been HUGE for the teamâŠ.10-15 minutes of high level basketball off the bench could have been an âXâ factor last year.
