I agree with you. Nothing against Cenac but in the biggest game of his young career he $hit the bed. Illinois left him wide open daring him to shoot. His lack of production allowed them to clog the paint and prevented Kingston from doing what he did to teams all year. Youth caught up to us in that game.

Sorry, but this just isn’t true…
UH is definitely considered to have one of the best programs in the country but we are not considered to be a GREAT program like UCONN or even like Florida or Kansas… because they’ve won multiple CHAMPIONSHIPS.
You could just as easily argue it was not his youth but lack of his post game, and UH’s post game, that caused us to keep taking, and missing, those mid-range jumpshots…

People that continue to think Cenac WILL EVER have a post up game are going to be very disappointed. Not his game and NEVER will be. His job in that game was to loosen up the middle with his jumper, he simply could not do it. Now if we had another big with a low post game that would have been great but CC was never going to be that guy. Samp would tell you the same thing. Actually Cenac has a chance to have a really nice pro career as a stretch 4 but you will never see him in the low block.
That”s why we started the year giving the ball to JoJo on the bock but he wasn’t efficient there so we moved where he got it. No post play from last year”s team
Right… that’s what was missing from that team… if we had a viable low post game we could’ve tried to switch to that but we had to keep taking the open shots they were giving Cenac.
Unfortunately, we know how that worked out…

there is a certain type of toughness thats built in our players that no one just picks up 1st year, if it wasnt already in them…the toughness is more visually present in bigs as they are constantly fighting down low
jarace was kinda soft, and so was cenac… a junior jarace would have been a bully with 2 years of sampson coaching, cenac athleticism with our toughnes would have had folks saying he was a generation defender…
the toughness that came from our other bigs, they werent doing it as a freshmnen… jojo is the closest, but that was naturally his game …
sharp came in with horrible reputaion on defense… his 1st year was just okay, his senior its part of the selling point of why he was so good…
for the perspective of player… they were amazing, they did extremely well for the positon they were put in as freshmen…
for a team perspective … the post toughness was weak, we chose to put freshmen out there…

Thanks! Custom license plate frames was a summer project, using a 3D printer, for our basketball 
group… we call ourselves the FC “105 Baller5”. Some of us will switch from Columbia blue to red once we transition from football 
over to basketball.

I also think JoJo’s difficulty scoring with his back to the basket was something we did not anticipate. I think the staff thought he would be that guy. I don’t think we feel that way anymore. It is the reason we have brought in 3 guys (Gillespie, Arfan and East) that have that in their game. I think Jo will be facing more this year much like he was in the last 10 games last year.

Cenac is the same as Rockets Jabari Smith. A 6’ 11” jump shooter ,

I didnt have a problem with replacing a grinding defensive player with a finesse offensive player like Cenac as long as the increase in offense outweighed what we lost on defense and in the post. Problem was the offense was not even as good as Jwan’s. I rather have Jwans ugly 10 points on offense that was at least more consistent. Jwan could have a bad game on offense but still give us 10 and still do all the dirty work.
We replace these gritty guys with some that are supposed to be better on offense, but cant even create their own shot. Cant even really dribble or beat a defender one on one. May as well put a defender out there that can get some hustle buckets.
When i saw Cenac’s film i asked a few fellow Coogs will Cenac be any better than Jerace and i was told yes, no doubt. Our offense was going to be the best ever with these guys. It wasnt. Not at all…

He’s one and done. Thats all i can compare. I cant project what Cenac will do in the NBA and then apply it to us and “what if”
I did the same with Cryer and King. That should be unfair too. But it isnt. Because King was balling…no one was saying…i really miss Cryer…
If you are a 1 and done…bout to make millions…probably making a million in college…damn near given a starting spot, then who should they be compared to? Other freshmen? No. You are a STARTER making Mills. You are going to be compared to what you replaced.

FWIW, of all the guys we brought in….i think Cenac would have been twice the player he showed as a freshman had he come back this year.
IMO, you would have seen a 15-17 ppg with 10rpg.

But we will never know…hence the problem with one and dones. I agree with your take on Cenac BTW. Actually with a true center last year he would have been more effective.

Perfect comparison and Smith actually played more than one year at Auburn I believe.
Just checked I was mistaken, Jabari only played one season at Auburn (21-22 season). Averaged about 17ppg
In addition to his own growth, he and Tugler would have had things figured out. We still need some bulk down low, but those two playing together for another year would have been huge.
