It wasn’t me.
Dude thank you for posting this. That was a class move by Mr Fertitta et al . That’s how I want us represented to the world “nothing but class” !
Go Coogs !
Thank you for posting. Good for Fertitta to do this. HCWF could have been hired years before but what matters is that he is with us today.
Spotlighting an interesting guy from Plano West: 2027 OL Aidan Ray.
Excellent interview by Martin. Ray is a mature young man. Wants to be a physician. No better place in the world than Houston to become a physician. The city has three medical schools and the best teaching hospitals.
Love that Mr. Ray is from Plano. A few years ago, it was unthinkable that UH would sign OL from North Texas. UH signed Rhett Gray from Weatherford for 2026.
UH making inroads in North Texas, one recruit at a time.
Since the Permian exploded with fracking, from 2017 to present Midland Lee & Odessa Permian are a combined 156 - 68. That’s with Lee going 6-6 the last 2 years
Listened to the interview.
The young man obviously has a good head on his shoulders.
Also read the article and what stood out to me is when he said he wants to go somewhere where they treat his Family right…
IMO, that’s the secret sauce.
When you get a young man who comes from a solid family, it’s synergistic…
It also applies when you give a young man, who comes from a “challenging” Family situation the opportunity to experience a “Family feel”, perhaps for the first time in his life.
Willie has mastered the art of culture.
But the reason is…
…because it’s genuine.
This young man will have a good chance of becoming a “Coog”. He’s a great fit.
That said. if Texas wants him, I’m sure they’ll pitch how $ will help his Family.
This one will be interesting to follow.
Thanks for posting Ryan.
Hey, this buying a house or a car for your mother has been happening in college football for nearly a 100 years in college football. Now it is legal but nothing has really changed! I was a student trainer at UH in the early 70’sand the players used to sit around and talk about how different SWC schools offered them a lot of money! WHATEVER THE CURRENT SYSTEM IS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, SCHOOLS WILL ALL TRY TO GET ADVANTAGE OVER ONE ANOTHER! NOTHING‘S CHANGED. WE JUST CALLED LEGAL NOW!
Agreed.
I’m just saying, for some prospects, it’s more important than straight cash.
Player gets a car.
Mom gets a house.
Dad gets a job.
Shepard HS DL Brayden White is scheduled to take an OV to UH May 28th-30th. White is anwhere from 6’0", to 6’4" depending on the recruiting site, and 290-300 lbs. White is a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, and track and field (discus/shot put).
In Young’s Jr. year in 2025, he had 24 tackles, 12 TFL, 8 sacks, and 1 INT. Caught 7 passes for 118 yards and 4 TDs on offense.
On the basketball court, White plays C and PF, and as a Jr., averaged 23.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 32 games. I saw some video of him and he has a nice outside shot. At 290 lbs., I pity the fools who try to take a charge from Young.
Good athlete. I hope UH is a good match.
Hell, I feel sorry for anyone who tries to charge on him when he stands and takes it!
The other guy charging probably bounces off!
Tech is signing everyone where do they get all this money from?
Yes, Tech has more $$$ than anyone else in the Big 12.
It bears repeating. Houston’s bag game is nothing to sneeze at and is criminally underrated.
Mr. Worrell, if there was a best kept secret award this one would make the list.
Yes you still have to win a title. We know that being “stacked” does not guarantee a CFP title. uta is probably the best example of all.
The term/label of blue bloods is synonymous with how much cash these same programs threw/throw at athletes. “Buying” a Championship was always key for these blue bloods. They will never admit it because it does not look too good and it breaks the “National” super power image. Some cringe reading this because they will never admit that their favorite program indeed cheated. It was so evident when a few months ago a prominent poster debated me that uta indeed committed the same infractions as we did but got a tap on the back side. You find “dead bodies” on the internet. His reply went silent.
But and that is the most IMPORTANT factor in all of this. Yes money does help reaching the top but what matters most is having a true Leader, an exceptional teacher and HC.
Mr. Yeoman was both but these probations torpedoed his future National success. I have no doubts if given the same ncaa advantage that uta got that we would have won a National Championship and probably two or three. The very fact that the ncaa went after us with a clear objective says it all.
HCWF embodies what Mr. Yeoman did. Build an unbreakable structure at every level. From the nutritionist to the HC everybody has a goal, self motivating role to accomplish the ultimate. You can sense it every time HCWF speaks. As a coach that is the ultimate that you want. There is no way of telling where we would be today if Mr. Fritz had been hired after judas. What maters most is that he is a Coog today. Thank you for posting Mr. Worrell.
Cody Campbell
It’s more than a dozen guys but Cody is the one rallying the troops, so to speak.
Can’t really control what Tech is doing with their $ and their recruiting.
But…
We CAN focus on what the Coogs are doing.
And what they’re doing makes them the toughest game on the Red Raider’s Schedule.
I can’t speak for the rest of you, but, as for me…
…I’d rather UH beat a “Nationally Ranked” Tech than a mediocre Tech.
Beating good teams helps get you to the playoffs. Just sayin’…
Go Coogs!
Xavier Muhammad committed to Michigan.
I’m sure this is the case, but Campbell does little to disabuse people of the notion that Tech’s ascendency is mostly about him.
