4/18 Spring Game Thread

This link was posted earler in the month from someone, many of you may have missed it. Many of the names from my observations today match was was written here, including R-Fr. Wyatt Herbal. Two that I failed to mention (I forgot) were Paris Melvin and Zane Smith, dubbed ‘The Viking’ made good contributions today also. Paris has gotten significant ink so that goes without saying, he’s a baller.

Many of the drills from today were also mentioned here.

Bet he had a better perch than most of us

When I saw we signed Patrick I said that he had a chance to be even better than TK….i also believe he is a “Sunday Player”.

I dont think anyone believed me….glad you got a glimpse Rob.

Got to see him a lot at UTSA….the kid is real.

He’s going to be a stud, for us, and he’s a junior. I bet he saw how Tanner was utilized last year, a big cog in the offense, and said “yeah that’s where I belong”

Overmeyer and Sanford have potential to be breakout candidates on offense.

Buhake and Glass seem like they could make big steps on defense.

What did the Running Game look like?

The RBs will be as strong as recent memory. Butler took a huge step this spring and looks to build on his strong end of 2025.

Sanford has always been good. Him being healthy will provide quality depth.

Hughes will provide the spark. Strong runner that will open some stuff up.

The OL looks much improved. Probably the best OL since the early 2020s.

Nothing I would love more than a really strong and physical running game this upcoming season. When we go to Tech in Week 3, we can’t let Weigman take the kind of pounding he took from them last year. Chewing away at 4 and 5 yard physical run plays one after another against them on the road would be a dream scenario way for us to flip the game on them. And we have the staff to do it

The OL is the best it’s been on the inside in years. Boswell -Angnello - Hurst may be the best in the conference.

This is on Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, not Eddie. Truth is, we need the revenue.

Fritz does game captains.

Ok, so how did Mayo look at DB, and how did Hughes look at RB?

Posted about Mayo in my initial post. He’s got to be a preseason all-conference selection. Predicting 5+ takeaways for him.

OK, but I agree with @Kyle_Be_Coogin on this one. His oversight was lacking. It’s under someone’s purview at UH I guess we can pin it on Renu. Wheeler doesn’t own the field. Eddie knew that we had a Spring game scheduled on that field.

If you can’t trust a church to follow an agreed contract, who can you trust?

If you “trust” anyone enough to let them move e giant cranes around on your $2MM field without oversight, then you’re not really doing your job.

If the damages came out of his pocket, then he’d probably be a little more diligent about ensuring that the football field was ready for football.

Uh-hmmm, maybe no one is left to trust. We thought we could trust Catholic priests not to diddle minors at one time. I bet they won’t get the trust next year. Fool me once… Trust but verify. If people want to shield Eddie from blame, then the head of the Grounds Crew was scrutinized.
