The Ohio State defense won the Ohio State football team’s spring game 35-26 at Ohio Stadium. Under coach Ryan Day’s modified scoring format, the defense had lost three of the previous four spring games entering the April 18 kickoff.
The 2026 Buckeyes closed out spring ball with the public scrimmage, which took place in front of 40,240 fans, a jump of just more than 100 spectators from last year despite the rainy weather.
Not sure if Ohio State charges for admission, or tickets free for season ticket holders or public ticket sales. Still 40K in attendance is impressive for a glorified scimmage…
2 observations from those clips, think I witnessed them all.
Kei’s passes were not nearly as crisp and accurate as Conner’s. There will not be a QB controversy this year. That overthrow was indicative of the day that he had, imo
That breakup of the pass by #27, Mudassir Abdullah, the freshman (West Columbia), and the loud crowd reaction showed what a great turnout of followers he had in the crowd. He’s going to press the elders on the field and the coaches for playing time.
Boom, 40K is quite impressive. That’s why I think 10,000 for UH would be a great accomplishment. There was a swag tent and concessions set up. Someone said we needed revenue from Wheeler. Maybe show up at the Spring game and make revenue there on swag and concessions. Free parking and free admittance. They even gave away a lot of free water bottles yesterday. Overall, I give the effort by the staff and the workers a solid A- after all the doom and gloom predicted here.
Great to hear him throw some love to the TE group and the 3 TEs that I was impressed with in the scrimmage. Overmeyer, Frederick, Herbel, (he added Caleb Thomas), he mentioned them all by name. He says the TE group could “end up being the strength of our team”. He’s high on the TEs.
Also, he’s already focused on next January’s portal additions and targeting quality Houston area players that he wants to offer a chance to “come back home”.
I think UH’s TE group is one of the deepest groups on the team. I love that you’ve got some local talent in the TE Room. Overmeyer is from Kingwood Park, Herbel is from Cy Fair, and Thomas is from North Shore.
