A&M paying for #1 class

The real issue here is that the aggies will still be aggies with an over paid coach.

Some things never change !

That’s a lot of Yankee stats to post. We have us a Yankee fan for sure.. #GoStros

I think this is the closest to a solution. Only a few schools (boosters) will be able to maintain the top level money commitment and will buy the top players every year. They need to form their own league with their player level, otherwise it really will be a Cinderella story for any of the other schools to have a chance, esp with multiple rounds of playoffs. They will get the byes in a 12 team system and everyone else will have to win 3 games vs a talent level imbalance.

y’all there is some dude in the airport wearing a 12th man jersey and a cowboy hat and seems about y’alls age should i ask about the nil payments if we strike up a convo?

Older than 35 I’d say LOL

The people donating the kind of money to produce national championships, what do they get from their investments? A signed football? A lunch now and then with coach? What do they get?

Hehe. You trying to slide out of trouble. Seeing what to call you n y’alls Age? Hmmm

Well organized and funded. You have to admire their organization. Still, they are Aggies and will find a way to f&*k it up.

Aggies still ain’t gonna get past Bama

Bragging rights. Nothing more. Nothing less.

See this is exactly what I am thinking. Like look, CV3 stuff I do for fun. All the stuff I want to do to help athletics is for a greater goal of raising our degree value. I just don’t understand donating millions of dollars to get players in a recruiting class over a national championship…

You make a solid, solid, solid point. From a tax standpoint, is paying players considered a donation anymore?

There is your incentive.

Well from my understanding they get different things and you only spend so much in a year. Also, you’re only going to spend so much money in your lifetime. If you’re ontop you want to stay ontop in the degree world. Your degree goes up and your kids get the legacy scholarship. Idk about admission (maybe that’s on the hush hush).

Suppose you’re wealthy and you bought $10,000 worth of Amazon stock. And it’s now worth $1,000,000 as the shares have gone up. Let’s suppose capital gains taxes are at 20% for you.

To get your money from this stock, you can sell it, and you will then pay $196,000 in tax. You receive 794,000 after taxes and your initial cost.

Alternatively you can give the stock to Harvard University through a gift annuity. No taxes will be paid on the capital gains. Yet you get a tax deduction based on the current value. And you also get a 6.7% annual annuity for the rest of your life, if you’re 75 years old.

Absolutely hilarious. That part where “Hope” encouraged Georgia got me in the feels a little bit, too. :joy:

I will also be curious as to how much this impacts donations to athletic departments. Boosters “donate” $30 million to players, do they maintain that amount to the schools or drop that part?

I think it will drain their booster donation pile bc this is 1 yr. It’s non sustainable. Best case would be for dealerships and outside corporate to donate it for this. They are also adding fees on tickets prices which will make their ticket prices high. In the sec , there is prob no need to do this bc A&M could get top 10 classes without it and their isn’t much diff between a top class and top 10.The boosters etc will be irate if they don’t win a NC increasing pressure on fisher.
