A new age of Attendance

273 straight home games and a top 15 team. The game day experience for a lot of people is just not as good as watching it at home and having 17 different games available to flip through, in AC/heat, clean bathrooms, WiFi that works, comfortable chair, ability to turn off a bad game and walk away, eat what you want, etc. I know as I am getting older and my friend base has expanded families that the every home game group has gone down to one game a year with the kids.

If it is happening at Notre Dame…

Agreed on all points.

It’s why TV viewers and not attendance will drive the next round of realignment. If we had NFL TV numbers we could play the games at the Carl Lewis International Complex and we’d be in the SEC.

But but the pageantry.

It is a reason the ticket office and the AD can’t afford to F up game day experience.

We needs Guns and Roses :rose: to do a halftime. They’ll draw

Pretty amazed that old rival Navy, who has a real good team this year and has beaten Notre Dame a couple of times in recent years and almost always plays a great game against ND, and THAT cant sellout???

I think they are trying to kill pageantry by playing loud rap music instead of listening to the bands. If I could actually talk with people around me pregame, instead of having to shout, it would really be nice. I keep hearing, but the kids like it; but how about the 75% that aren’t kids?

College Football is all about local rivalries. The cfp is killing the very essence of College Football.
The second you can’t play for the ultimate goal there is no reason for an FBS league. Make no mistakes this is what’s at stake. The days of regional program drawing 50k are going to be long gone soon if this scam continues. You become AAC Champion or MWC? What is the big deal? Your rightful access is blocked by the CFP. The multi-media only increases the chance that fan’s interest will be elsewhere. We can say that the customer’s behavior. has been forcibly changed.

I wonder if the recent very bad weather has anything to do with it? Bad part is over but with a high Saturday of 34, you wouldn’t see me there even if I were an alum.

I happen to look for scores of games being played tonight.

I grew up watching college FB on Saturday’s, because that was the day college FB was played.

This is this week FB schedule for the MAC.

Tuesday Nov. 12th.
Eastern Michigan vs Akron
Western Michigan vs Ohio

Wednesday, Nov.13th
Bowling Green vs Ohio (Miami)
Northern Ill. vs Toledo

Saturday, Nov. 16th
Central Michigan vs Ball St.

Only one Saturday game.

UH has experienced playing games this year on Sunday, Friday and Thursday.

Of course this is the media and advertisers demanding exposure of product that will not compete with the marque P5 FB games. G5 conference games are told when they will be played. Soon the Super 4 will be created in 2024-25 with 48 or so teams.

Enjoy the game on Saturday and next season.

Hey, I also remember when weekend college BB games were almost always on Saturday, this season, none for UH, and most other teams unless your team is P5 conference and a very few other marquee programs. Just look at the BB schedules on ESPN site to verify how many P5 Saturday games are on it and who are playing on most televised games.

Not just the aac champion, but runners up in p5’s and some p5 champs.

If a team today wins the G5 conference championship but does not get the token N.Y.6 games against the 3rd place P5 conference team. They have little change of playing a 6-6 P5 team.

The ESPN controlled bowls are locked in with the P5 conferences so that all that is left is the least of the bowls for the G5 champions.

Its marketing, brand developing, etc. by the media and the advertisers. Even the P5 schools and conferences have very little voice in when games are scheduled. They know who they must please so they can receive the check on the night stand after each FB game.

Even perpetual bottom and near bottom feeder P5 programs have fans that are abandoning their teams and are becoming BB fans because an Evansville can defeat a #1 Kentucky on the road.

In FB Alabama will play an Evansville type team each year before the Auburn game and the fans are told to accept it knowing the game will be over after the first quarter. Then the HC complains to the media that students and fans are leaving early. Guess even in Alabama there are not enough mindless sheep as there used to be.

Pitt had empty stands last night for their home game. Their record isn’t dismal yet the fans aren’t showing up to the game. Being a P5 school does not automatically result in big attendance numbers.

Big attendance numbers are all about the perceived experience

I feel for the young Coog families starting out just now. The cost is just plain stupid to take a family to most events these days. #1–quit RAPING the fans on gawd awful concessions and parking. As stated above even the P5 programs are suffering major drops in attendance. People just don’t want to deal with the hassle and cost when the recliner and TV is readily available.

Concessions at college events shoud priced on par with that at movie theaters. There are too many entertainment options available in Houston that are more affordable. Should not be paying $7 for a hot dog at a sporting event. I was expecting that the prices would get a little bit better without Aramark but they are the same. At least the concession stand I went too at FC last game as giving free refills on sodas.

Except they wouldn’t show up until 20 minutes after the game ended.

You have to go to College Station for those type of sheep…

I just got done talking to a friend of mine that has been a loooooong time Nebraska fan. He mentione even though they have like a 370 game sell out streak that over the last few years companies have stepped up and bought huge lots of tickets for some games to sell out. He said playing Maryland, Indiana, Purdue and innesota does nothing for him as a fan. He misses the Kansas, Missouri and Colorado games.

And that lies in the problem as well. How is that UH/UConn rivalry or Cinci or the Florida teams shaping up? Having conference teams that are 2000 miles away and with no recorded long time history with your programs sucks.

Nebraska super fan is one Warren Buffet.

Companies stepping up to purchase tickets to keep the streak alive.
Hmmm. Let’s see here, Berkshire Hathaway companies:

Acme Brick Co., Ben Bridge Jewelry, Benjamin Moore, BNSF Railroad, Dairy Queen, Duracell, Fruit of the Loom, GEICO, International Metal Working Co. (IMC), Johns Manville, Justin Brands, Lubrizol, Marmen Group, McLane Co., National Indemnity Co., NetJets, Northern Natural Gas, NV Energy, Pacificorp, Pampered Chef, Precision Castparts Corp., Russell Brands, Shaw Industries, See’s Candies, etc.

Yeah, I can’t possibly imagine Nebraska finding any companies to buy their unsold tickets.

Remember when Nebraska entered the BIG10 and had just lost their AAU membership. Imagine someone telling Nebraska/Warren Buffet that they are considering not allowing Nebraska membership because the BIG10 only wants AAU teams.

Then all the Berkshire Hathaway companies who work with the BIG10 schools in research and development, etc. are considering modifying, reducing or out right cancelling any work with BIG10 schools.

BIG10 is now all AAU schools except for Nebraska. Wonder why?
