AAU Adds 6 New Members

No it’s independent. Preying on easy access student loans.

Ummm…did you see the amount of money ASU has brought in for research? It blew the other candidates out of the water. Doesn’t matter how hard the students party, or your perceived view of the institution. It comes down to research dollars and quality of the research, plain and simple (see Nebraska comments).

This didn’t answer my question.

Oh, and a good university is a good university, regardless of AAU membership.

We all saw that.

It’s just that the Cal-Riversides of this world, with far lower research budgets, made it in over UH and many other schools that do more research.

ASU definitely had the research numbers to get in, but a few of the other selections are head scratchers.

Nice off campus housing preys on students? Same is true at our competition?

Correct. Its a national chain that’s building it.

Interesting numbers. We are at $203 million. We have a ways to go.

The Village is nearby. Washington Ave. is not far either. Eado has a couple of nice spots.

Did you live on campus? If you did would it have been easier to go party if the entertainment district was right next to campus? You know with ability stumble back to your dorm.

They can hop on the Metro rail that takes them through East Downtown, downtown, and connect to Midtown.

Back in my undergrad days, Midtown and Washington St was the unofficial UH campus.

It would be really cool if they extended the purple line down Washington or Memorial to Memorial Park or the galleria.

That would not help with the 3rd ward development, but it would give students places to go without needed to drive.

Sadly I commuted but when there weren’t any good frat parties Midtown was where we went.

The early 2010s Midtown spots of Dogwood, Spotlight, Shot Bar, Red Door, Pub Fiction, 3rd Floor, Wonder Bar, and Thursday night turtle racing at Little Woodrow’s.

And it didn’t feel like a very long commute to get over there in a taxi. Lol

Speaking of hot spots during college, anyone remember the Gallant Knight on West Holcombe and Greenbriar? The legendary Sammy Relford used to perform on weekends. He packed them in and was electric.

I went to Valhalla until I saw the Baker 13 in action.
