SJL got booed at a basketball game earlier this year and as much as I have respect for her, that was so funny.
I’ll absolutely join in on booing Whitmire, that Longhorn apologist AC denying dementor boggerer

I agree that Third Ward fits nicely into the stereotype that some of our competitors promote about UH. I also support developing Third Ward to benefit not only UH but the neighborhood in general but there are all sorts of issues which make it a long process, not the least of which is eminent domain.
How many kids looking at schools are even aware of AAU or use it in their decision making process?
It depends on whether you count Ph.D students as “kids” or not.
Having a Ph.D from an AAU school definitely looks a lot better due to the research emphasis.
Not really. It depends more on the actual mentor in that situation.
Disagree.
Getting a Ph.D from Central Michigan won’t look anywhere near as good on a C.V. as getting a Ph.D from an AAU school.
Not close.
Really we just need Scott street to have more bars , a grocery store etc
Really they could just buy a row of blocks on Scott and put up some cheap wooden bars that are classic cowboy then we’re good. Then when p5 schools play us other than Baylor, tech or tcu, they get a taste of Texas all in a row.
We need our 6th street
For the conspiracy crowd.
New AAU membership seems loaded w attractive B10 expansion candidates.
2nd in command at AAU.

"Folt…reportedly “shut down” the talks.
After the special committee made the decision to not expand in August 2021, both the Bruins and the Trojans left the conference instead."
I doubt that’s a metric to get an AAU membership.
Sorry. Cherry-picking won’t work here. Stay in your lane.
As someone who has been in multiple grad schools, I’m well within my lane.
Maybe we can convince these developers to build her…instead of the site a couple of miles away.
(Ashby high-rise opponents sue over revised tower plans as construction)
We have multiple 6th streets, its just not near the campus, but a few minutes drive away.
Preach!
You would be surprised.
Also, because of the general correlation between reaseatch dollars and AAU membership, it generally happens to align with AAU member schools and PhD students
Just look at UH’s professors; at least in my old college, The Econ Department was full of people with PhD’s from AAU member schools: Northwestern, TAMU, Yale, Penn, CMU, MIT, Rochester, Harvard, Rice, UT, etc. The only guy I can think of who taught me who did not get his PhD from an AAU member school got his from VaTech, a school that is on the cusp of membership.
If AAU membership did not matter, then every university president would not be declaring their intention to get X University to AAU status by X date. Heck, my son got into several AAU member schools, and every single one of them mentioned it on their marketing materials.
The Haven at Elgin is a huge investment in student housing that will be ready this fall.
Is it affiliated with UH?
