I thought the strategy behind moving our games to Friday and tonight, Thursday, was to get more TV time. But the game tonight is ESPN+ and with the weather, odd start time, we will be practically invisible. What did I miss? (Serious question).

seems like AD thought people wouldn’t show up due to labor day weekend plans, lazy excuse. we aren’t the only game on espn+, lots of P4 games tonight and tomorrow on that, its whatever enjoy the game

It’s an FCS game, it’s not that serious. Basically the college football equivalent of an NFL preseason game.

Playing SFA doesn’t exactly improve a team’s chances of being on a big network.
Hell, Illinois is currently ranked #12 and they are B1G, but because their first game is likewise against a I-FCS team, the game is on Peacock.

Then you have ESPN’s selection of games that are above the fold. Im fine with the 5 that are on TV but their selection for the ESPN+ one is questionable. I understand not getting on TV and all but come on.

Maybe CWF likes to start the season early? It gives the coaches more practices after leaning some about how the players perform on gameday. More time to focus on our first FBS opponent. Maybe CWF knows that if he loses to Rice WheelerBoy will be calling for his head!

He doesnt need a reason, and you are never going to get TV coverage playing someone like SFA. Getting 2 extra days to practice for Rice is as good a reason as any.

Nearly all teams (including us) have a ridiculous amount of transfers. Bottom line, until there is game film in this program they’re relative unknowns. We get 2 more days to evaluate them.

I know plenty of SMU students and fans who are going out of town and not going to the Saturday night tilt vs East TX A&M. Lots of Aggy tickets are going cheap for UTSA game on Saturday night. I guess they don’t go out of town for the holiday weekend or go to Weeknd or Astros game.
It’ll be a blast tonight with 8500 students plus new endzone facility.
