Now, you can ask which I support more but that’s a matter of perspective which was my original point. I’m trying to look at it objectively. The issue is we are ok with things if we support it (e.g. a non-country having a military) but not when we don’t. That applies to all kinds of issues.
I’m a strong supporter of Taiwan and believe it should be independent of China. I also believe the US should support Taiwan. But that’s my perspective that others may not share.
I’m also a strong supporter of Israel (although I don’t love some of their more recent actions). I can also see the other side of the issue though and try to step back and make sure my logic is consistent.
I find it useful to step back and try to see things from the other side. Why do they think what they think? What’s driving that? I’ve often found there was more logic than I had previously cared to admit. I may not come their side but I at least can appreciate their viewpoint. We’ve largely lost that ability as a society.

Claim what? Because they said so? They have no rights, none over Taiwan. By even considering that communist china has rights over Taiwan it is endangering Taiwan’s sovereignty.
The U.S.A. made a huge mistake by stopping to recognize Taiwan as its own country. Nixon at all cost wanted to bring communist China into the World’s economy. Taiwan’s sovereignty should have never been “adjusted”
You’re not really engaging in the subject matter and I don’t want to completely derail the convo. Just pointing out a parallel. This isn’t a debate to be won.
You disagree and that’s fine.

and that is the point rtcoog. This is not and should never be a parallel.
No. I don’t recognize the existence of a Palestinian nation. There has never been one in history and there isn’t one now.
I can keep explaining it to you, but I can’t make you understand. They had autonomy over all of these things and use Gaza as a launching pad to attack Israel over and over again.
All terrorists should be eliminated.
Again, the only group that is oppressing the citizens of Gaza is Hamas. This is all their fault.
Until you learn the definition of “genocide”, I’m not going to even address the rest of your statement.
It’s not “my version”, it’s historical fact. Israel unilaterally vacated Gaza and left it to them.
You’re biggest problem is that you see Israel as the oppressor because you look at everything through the lens of the oppressed and the oppressor. Every other topic you look through a racial lens. Israel must be the oppressor because they are “white colonialists”. You have bought into the Hamas propaganda hook, line, and sinker. There is no genocide in Gaza. Israel’s goal is to eliminate Hamas. it is not to eliminate an entire population. Securing your sovereign nation’s border is not creating an “open air prison”.
Why is Israel the only nation in the history of the world held to a war time standard that no other nation have been held to? Why is it Israel’s responsibility to give aid to the people who attacked them? Why is Israel held to a “proportionate response” standard that has never existed before? Israel goes to extreme levels in trying to avoid civilian casualty. When has a nation at war ever told the other side when and where they were going to attack so civilians can find shelter? Does Hamas or Hezbollah or Iran do that for Israel? I bet the British would have loved a heads up when the Nazis were bombing London.
This is exactly why I opened this thread. Anti-Palistinic views such as them not even ever existing to dehumanize them to allow ignoring all of the murder and theft committed by Israel and Israelis over the last century.
It’s a language model that gets its information from the public domain (the internet)
I’m not saying the response you get is necessarily incorrect, but it cannot specifically target sources that are factually verified. It could be sourcing information from Wikipedia Reddit or Yahoo Answers
Just an FYI
And no. Palestine is not comparable to a Taiwan. The USA has vested economic interest in making sure Taiwan stays sovereign. This can’t be said for Palestine.
Israel did not give Gaza complete control. They had direct control over literally every single aspect of their economy. They didn’t allow them to build a military. They controlled and LIMITED their water and electricity access. They broke multiple agreements in the disengagement
Seriously, reflect on yourself and your opinions. What you’re saying is absolutely insane.
Hamas limited their water supply. They removed the pipes to build terror tunnels. Why didn’t Hamas build their own electrical plants? They had the money. Instead they used that money to build terror tunnels and buy rockets and guns. Every dollar of aid they received has been used towards terror and murder.
Yes, there is an ongoing genocide in Gaza being conducted by Israel → who is funded by the USA.
Even the current administration is beginning to condemn Israel. Why? Because the economic implications of a genocide are massive and could lead to serious repercussions such as sanctions or de-investment.
