Antisemitism can't be ignored

My understanding is the Rabbis are supposed to turn you away two or three times. Like, oh you want to convert. Here go read this stuff and come back. That’s partly tradition, and partly to make sure you’re serious.

The Washington Post calculated how much Nick Fuentes earns from live streaming hate

The lines of “what is anti-semitism” have been blurred. Check out the new laws in Ukraine for speaking critically of Israel: 8 years in prison! Israelism is the pendulum swing to the other extreme, combating crimes against Jews.

Congregation Beth Israel in Meyerland shut down the school and synagogue today due to threats to the campus.

Whadda ya’ll think of this?

Yea I was just reading that.

No, I am not. You read something into my post that is clearly not there. That’s on you, not me.

Israel has and continues to do horrible things. That’s a fact. Hiding behind antisemitism attacks to ignore or justify wrongdoing isn’t a strategy that should be attempted but is on a regular basis here.

That’s my point.

That’s a lie. Nowhere did I make any single anti-semitic remark. Not. A. Single. One.

Does it get tiresome on your side, claiming all negative views of Israel and its actions are somehow anti-semitic? It sure is reading it.

A foundational tenet of Israelism

And I haven’t seen anyone in this thread do that, I know that I certainly haven’t. This thread from the beginning is to bring attention to the rising antisemitism as well as antisemetic attacks, period.

I have never made that claim. It seems you think that any mention of antisemitism or claim of antisemitism, no matter how clear, is just something used as a shield from criticism of the Israeli government.

The fact is, non-Israeli Jews in the diaspora have no say or vote on what the Israeli government does. Blaming those Jews for the actions of Israel or targeting them with violence, is clearly antisemitism.

Criticizing Israel is not.

However, using antisemetic tropes to criticize Israel is. Quite often, criticism of Israel is used as a fig leaf to cover for actual antisemitism.

I’ve never heard of “Israelism”.

Putin told us Ukraine was full of Nazis, which is one of the reasons he gave for the invasion.

Huh…

A Tuckerism?

That’s bull. The law criminalizes Antisemitism, not criticism of Israel. Also, its a graduated penalty, so one incident of Antisemitism doesn’t necessarily warrant 8 years in prison. Unfortunately, I had no luck pulling up the actual text of the law. However, it does tie the law to the IHRA definition of antisemitism that Ukraine previously adopted into law. Here’s a link to that:

I do find it concerning that you’re posting Tucker Carlson who has platformed antisemites like Nick Fuentes, as well as Holocaust revisionists, and has even promoted conspiracies such as Chabad is behind the war in Iran. Heck, Tucker was named antisemite of the year not long ago! He’s not someone simply criticizing Israel, in my opinion.

Didn’t realize that was even a thing !

No, not at all

It’s easy to find. Many are claiming it’s what got drumpf into this war

From a Google search: “Israelism” is a critical, descriptive term coined by the documentary creators to describe how American Jewish identity has been heavily intertwined with the state of Israel, resulting in a specific, often unquestioning, pro-Israel perspective that is currently undergoing a “wrenching generational rift”.

The documentary mentioned was titled Israelism. Well, I don’t know much about that. I don’t think I know anyone who is “unquestioning pro-Israel” but I could be wrong. Pro-Israel, I know plenty, but unquestioning - I don’t think so.

Anyways, that seems to be a separate discussion and not tied to antisemitism necessarily.

I find it the epitome of coincidence and irony, that Tucker, in that video says a lot of what 20 of you have claimed in the Iran War thread.

Yes, it started with a documentary, 2023 I believe. In your rush to criticize without investigation you dismissed my pov. Not surprising with the history of this forum. Check out who made the documentary before being so quick in your desire to minimalize and dismiss.

It very much so is. 20 minutes ago you had never heard of the term.
