Anyone else genuinely concerned about the future of UH football?

I agree. However, when it comes to Houston - I think the general consensus is that we aren’t really (wouldn’t be) invited to the Big 10 for our brand.

It’s more so due to our geographic location and helping the B1G install relationships with one of if not the best recruiting spots in the country.

That being said, it’s pretty well known that the top tier schools in the B1G already recruit the Houston area anyway, so even that might not be enough to entice inviting Houston.

Maybe private equity will be the best thing moving forward… if the options are as bleak as youre either in or your out… Private equity will disolve all of that.

Imagine having a corporation involved… talk about the influences of getting your sponsor into the playoffs

If Private Equity was such a great option, I think that route would’ve already infiltrated CFB by now

The only reason FSU for example, would go to Private Equity, is because they know that are going to have to come up with a half billion dollars to get out of the ACC.

Going to PE is pretty much assuring that they will make enough back on that + interest essentially

I think you are missing the whole point of what the B1G is trying to do.

They are trying to create NFL like coverage spread out all over the United States.

When the MLB added the Colt .45s in 1962 it had NOTHING to do with the fact that Houston, or the Colt.45s were on par with New York City or the Yankees…or that they brought in equal revenue…NO!..they knew they needed broad coverage for their brand (MLB) in markets that would become MLB markets and STRONG markets…it was a strategic add FOR the MLB!

The B1G has slowly but methodically been spreading out their tentacles to new parts of the country…first NY/NJ and MD/DC and then California and the West Coast and next I predict they will target SEC/ACC country and expand into Florida and possibly even into Texas which is GOOD news for us!

You are missing all of the evidence in front of you…they are vetting ALL possibilities, in all directions, and they have an aggressive track record of being the biggest most powerful conference in the United States!

As per usual, I think both of you guys are right and wrong about different things

Regardless, no matter what happens, the Big 10 will always place Academics as a priority with their conference. Doesn’t matter where any of this is headed.

There’s not a single team in Florida that fits the Big 10. Even Miami, who is an academically prestigious school, simply isn’t a fit for the Big 10 brand-wise

Same here. I live in the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT) and most folks generally don’t like the NY state system. So outside of Ivy (which we all hope for) and liberal arts schools, it’s basically UM, UNC, UVA.

And no interest in Rutgers! lol

not just polling system. please. we sucked as a program.

we’ll get better, but let’s not pump sunshine and delusion into the last 30 years.

Yeah, but unless a P2 is willing to take them – and I don’t think anybody will – they’re kinda SOL. But I could be wrong about that. I think whether the B1G has the appetite to eat the top handful of ACC brands is the determining factor on whether we ultimately end up with 5 Power Conferences or 4.

Man! Sunshine is good.

I have great football memories in the last thirty years. But i don’t need a NC shot to have fun following UH football

i do too. but that wasn’t the argument.

Glad you had good memories too despite us “sucking as a program”

yes i did. i am a fan. that’s what i do, regardless of the state of the program.

i don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to understand that we can be fans, but still have less than positive things to say about the program? if you’re an aggy right now, you’re still a fan, but you must be damn near suicidal about their ineptness over the last decade. it’s okay. that’s being a fan.

The last decade where we moved up to the Big12?

huh? could barely win the AAC.

If we’re so inept how did we move up?

whatever. that’s because the school realized that we sucked and had to make a change. what is wrong with you? everyone sees this and attacked the issue

No point in discussing, once you claim the program sucked for last thirty years i know i won’t agree with you. I just don’t see things that way

We started getting it together circa 2008.
