Anyone else genuinely concerned about the future of UH football?

How is it a mess?

For the majority of the last 50 years, and especially the last 30 years, the University of Houston has literally close to ZERO chance of winning a National Championship in Football due to the biased polling system

The 12 team playoff now offers a fighter’s chance to win it ON THE GRIDIRON.

It’s up to US, to be organized enough to build a Championship program.

No, 48-50 is FIFTY-ISH.

That’s what YOU said.

I see a B1G with no more than 21 (two ACC plus ND), and an SEC with no more than 18 (two ACC), and a Big 12 with 20-22 (4-6 ACC).

As I said a FORTY-ISH P2 and a SIXTY-ISH P3.

Is that math too hard for you?

Also, unlike you, I do not see ANY Big 12 school moving up to the P2. The brands simply aren’t big enough to make them attractive.

So we are clear, i said 48 P2 schools in the B1G 10 & SEC plus 2 protected P2 level Independents in Notre Dame & BYU.

I never said the SEC & B1G would have Fifty-something members

Ive been consistent is stating they will be 2x24 which equals 48.

Go ahead and contiue to argue that 48 is a number in the Fifties

Why on earth would BYU want to go back indy? A comment like that makes me think even more that the Big 12 survives

So we are clear, there will NOT be 48-50 schools in the P2.

There are no more than 4-5 additive brands out there for the P2 (ND, Clemson, Florida State, UNC, and perhaps UVa).

Which means that we will have a P2 consisting of the existing 34 plus four or five (38-39 total).

The other brands you mentioned are not additive enough in value to attract a P2 invite. So NO 48-50.

In the recent BB broadcast, one of the announcers was arguing how much better the analytical methods were for ranking, compared with voters. He said the voters only see a few games and the analytics see them all.

Off topic for FB but the concepts apply.

100% AGREE with you Monte. Consider who you are exchanging posts with.

law is trolling again. You just can’t help it.
law’s quotes:
The big10 only talks about adding ND…

Really?
You are the same law that wrote and I quote:
The big10 will never invite USC, ucla or any Western programs.
On this subject law you keep on trolling. You have been wrong time and time and time again.

Again…so many holes in your argument.

There are 14 spots left to get the 2 × 24= 48

The State of North Carolina is about to act to ensure that BOTH North Carolina and North Carolina State both end up in a P2…similar to how USC lifted UCLA with them.

I expect UNC to go the the B1G and NCSt to the SEC.

That’s 2 spots so 12 left.

FSU + Clemson + Virginia are all P2 worthy so 3 more.

We are now at 9 open spots.

The Big 12 still has multiple #1 State Flagship Schools that would really balance out the map for full NFL like coverage.

Kansas + Colorado + Arizona + West Virginia + Utah are all current Power options so that is 5 more.

We now have four spots open to reach this 2 x 24 settup

4 spots for the following candidates
Texas option- one of Houston, Texas Tech or TCU
PITT
Virginia Tech
Louisville
Georgia Tech
Cincinnati
Miami

Anyone NOT in this P2 will be in the conference of misfit toys

and before the merge to realignment thread…lmao

We are not getting to 48.

There aren’t FOURTEEN brands out there big enough to attract P2 invites, and that’s what it would take to get there.

So we can RULE THAT OUT.

There are only 4-5 such brands at the most, as I said.

Not sure what part of that is so hard.

The only hard part is your stubborness.

The B1G Ten has actively vetted the brands you don’t think are worthy per YOU.

The B1G Ten disagrees with you.

You spent a year stating the B1G would NEVER add Washington and Oregon. I ALWAYS said they would come back for them…this is all about leverage and negotiation.

The B1G DEFINITELY wants to get to 24…I’m expecting the SEC to follow because they will have to in order to keep pace.

The B1G is driving the bus here and if they WANT into Texas, they will pick a school. We had better keep growing!

Sure there is, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, University of Houston, and the University of Houston

matter fact, we’re gonna get dual membership in both conferences

Vetting and inviting are two different things.

They can vet schools until the cows come home.

But they will only decide to INVITE them if their brands are big enough to add value.

As I said, only 4-5 brands out there are big enough to add value.

NO Big 12 brand is big enough.

The more I think about it, the more I think it makes sense to invite the whole P5 (including the Big East) along for the breakaway. The B1G and especially SEC are pretty close to maxed out on a revenue per school basis, and it gives the TV partners better inventory with the XII and ACC without making them pay P2 prices. It also makes postseasons for non-Football sports feasible and solves some of the political capital problem.

It’s also within the realm of possibility that they just say that conferences that are willing to play by the new rules (paying players, etc.) are free to come along, although I think that looks basically the same.

Solid take

This is exactly why FSU wants out of the ACC…

I already see Brands that don’t belong. Vanderbilt is such a compelling match up. And you might be interested in Northwestern, Indiana and Rutgers but those aren’t brands people tune into.
I’m also interested to see how it works out with PAC teams moving. Its still just an experiment at this phase.
Who knows where things go from here but Coogfans can worry about all hypotheticals. Time to retire like Saban

Has nothing to do with the new playoff, that’s the best thing that’s happened to college football since it kicked off. They have to get a handle on the transfer portal and NIL and figure out who’s in charge because it’s not the NCAA
