Just looked that up, the current one was new last year but I see they schedule it for final four weekend which is pretty smart for broadcasting. Gives more chance for eyeballs on the tournament.
Still in disbelief there will be no CBI tournament this year

I just read they just canceled it last week. I wonder if the NIL era is changing their model since teams have to pay to be there.

Well - I pay attention to the teams that ‘reject / decline’ the NIT invite - because those are usually the same cry-babies whining about not getting into the NCAA tourney - but are also finding the excuse not to play the NIT … to avoid the terrible look of screaming about being excluded from the NCAA and then being bounced in the first or second round of the NIT …
If you really believe you deserved to be in the NCAA - prove it by at least making it to the NIT final four in the Garden.
