Attendance & Spirit

We could not attend the game or see it on ESPN+. How was the attendance, student section and crowd experience. Anyone have pictures?

It was what I expected it to be. WiFi was working just fine.

28,251 official attendance. Highest this season so far. I expect the Baylor game to hopefully be 30,000+

Student section was good. Well done by them. Hardly anyone in the 300s.

Most had lost enthusiasm by mid 3rd quarter. Not very loud on D in the second half, even when prompted by announcement and board video.

No real excitement until the game winning kick. Was kind of an odd feeling walking out after the last second win.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of people there, but not ready to declare it a ‘crowd.’

3/4 of the two rows I was in was folks from the upper levels who came down to 100

I didn’t ask them to move out of my seats since it’s more fun to watch with fellow fans instead of empty seats.

Keep being surprised by the student section. They’re definitely doing their part.

There was a couple in front of us in 310. They sat through the whole game, then strolled out about two plays before the winning field goal. I looked at my wife and said, “how do you sit through all that, then leave right before the exciting part?”

There seems to be a consistent core in the lower bowl. Students have shown up all season, which is exciting and bodes well for the future. Just need a decent offense.

It was the least exciting competitive game I’ve been to in a long time. Our gameday atmosphere keeps getting worse, and it’s not just an attendance or offense thing. Our gameday presentation team just seems incapable of getting the crowd into the game.

I have enjoyed the in game emcee much better than the blonde girl from past years. This guy is entertaining and engaging.

Yeah, he’s pretty good. His pitch for the bowl of whatever was a little weird though.

Crowd looked decent on the highlights but, of course, we are true to our mantra… arrive late, leave early.

That guy that tries to pump up the crowd is more annoying than pumping.

Another solid efforts by the students.

Memo to Students:
Pay no attention to the apathetic alumni living in Houston who never support the team. You are the future.

Utah fans helped boost the crowd. Still it was just above embarrassing.

I am pretty sure the students don’t even notice the alumni to begin with. When I was in school my focus was simply partying with other students.

T-moar, are you referring to atmosphere inside the stadium ? I’m. It sure what more the school cab do to excite a lethargic base especially while watching a lethargic offense. I park in the green lot and the atmosphere heading to the stadium was very active. We were running late and actually missed about the first 5 minutes of the game. I noticed there were 1,000s of folks who were still tailgating at their respective homecoming gatherings and visiting. I have no idea if most of them ever decided to come in the stadium

Some of the frats were having what almost looked like a block party across Cullen from the stadium and they seemed to be having a blast.

There are bad teams basically everywhere across the P4 that figure out a way to get their fans into it. Iowa has been a punt-first offense for half a decade and their crowds still show up. OU and FSU have worse offenses than we do and their crowds still show up and get into it. At some point, the gameday presentation folks have to stop making excuses and figure something out. The stadium emptying out in the third quarter of a game where the margin was never more than one score is far more humiliating than anything that’s happened on the field this year.

Spirit of Houston was awesome and my section (117) always gets rowdy!

From what I remember students were loud, too.
