Again it was lsu and bandwagon coog will be there loud and proud cause they want to be in the same room with certain folks
What do you mean āget it together?ā What is he supposed to do about attendance? I actually have to give him credit for sticking with the āBuilt by Houstonā theme. Although the slab car is not my style, I get it and it works. And now the nasa theme with the helmets. Those were meant to be worn with all white jerseys, which would have made them look like astronauts out there but UCF refused to wear their home jerseys. He also tried to get a night game but tv schedules messed that up. I have to give them credit for being creative.
As I have said plenty of times, attendance is a city of Houston culture thing that has to be consciously addressed within the fan base. Like, constantly explain why being at the stadium is important.
Call out the fans? Fans show up and you want them to be driven off?
We donāt have fans. So who is there to call out?
Why would that help? Fertita holds a fraction of the capacity of TDECU, and even reduced capacity from Hoffeinz, so even if every basketball fan had season tickets to football it wouldnāt move the attendance needle.
Stealing this from Twitter. This graph clearly demonstrates that kickoff time is a huge determining factor in attendance. We havenāt broken 30k for an 11 am kickoff in the Big 12 era.
Think that OP was being sarcastic
Ok when people say āwin and they will comeā they actually mean win a meaningful game where we have a chance to compete for a chip.
I remember during the end of the Braves 14 season stretch where they made the playoffs every year; people stopped going to games because they felt that the Braves would choke. Same thing is happening to the Astros.
Fact is, when you live in major metros with pro teams, this will always be a problem.
That is why I said that the best thing UH could do is make the experience as cheap as possible; create a vibe for people to hangout and have fun. We are not a traditional school (whatever that means); we are a large, T1 urban research university and would should embrace it. Stop trying to keep up with the Jonesās and create our own theme/vibe.
Beat Texas Tech!!
Been a hardcore fan for over 20 years and graduated in 2008, my dad is an alum from the early 80s. Had attendance issues since the dome days. Nothing new. USC got trashed in the media for poor attendance early this year on an early game when it was hot. UH fans NEVER have and NEVER will show up for early games, cold games, hot games, rainy games, games we arenāt a good team. If everything aligns we might get a good crowd. It is what it is. I will say the more hype we can get (Herman was a master at that) we get a noticeable bump. Take it personal though and grab a friend or 3!
If we arenāt going to try to keep up with the jones then we should drop football because it is a financial anchor on the school as a whole.
So is Washington.
Somehow they get a helluva lot more people to their football games, and are a helluva lot more traditional.
Whitmire blocked our effort to become more traditional.
Theyāre getting full Big 12 shares now.
We do have fans. They showed up when Herman was here.
Has Nunez mentioned anything on expansion? Not sure what weāre waiting for. If we add the canopy we will definitely need more seating.![]()
2 years for only a few games during those 2 years doesnāt make a fan base
Iāve gone to a couple of astros games over the past 2 decades but Iām not an astros fan. I just wanted to see what the deal was at Minute Maid. And I went to two Texans games in the same time period but Iām definitely not a Texans fan.
Disagree. My whole party and many others in the stadium left with unclaimed student shirts that sat on empty bleachers well beyond halftime.
Temple (AAC Championship) was also decent
They did eventually

Yāall missed a big one, at least I didnāt see itā¦
The Texans and Cowboys play today. I guarantee you there are a lot of fans that made the choice to go to the NFL game today instead of UH yesterday.
I donāt think we will ever have a true big fanbase like other schools based on our attendance history all the way back to yeoman days, everyone said when we get in the Big 12 that will fix attendance, didnāt happen. The city is apathetic, our student body didnāt help back then, we were a commuter school, now our diverse student body isnāt helping either, i know yall are going to roast me for the diverse statement but I donāt care look at our students compared to traditional schools it matters. Guess what if basketball starts losing consistently (hopefully never) , attendance will again be an issue there also watch and see. I donāt think there is a fix for us not sure but with 7 million people around Houston and no one comes we got BIG problems
