Bad press because of attendance

Only being in the SEC will fix our attendance.

How?

Because we would have guaranteed sellouts for UT, aTm, and LSU, and at least near sellouts for OU and Arky.

That is not true. It was pulled pork tacos, eggs and potatoes, sausage kolaches, sliders, etc.

100% they chose the pro game over the college game.

They couldn’t hang, I’m going to both

I was at the game and drove in from Dallas with the family, so all 5 of us were there. This was the worst home crowd at kickoff I’ve seen all year and it filled up somewhat 10 mins after. By half, 20% of the student section was left which I blame on the scoreline. The weather was shitty and folks talked about it being in the mid-80s but the humidity made it feel near 100.

Do we even have a marketing dept and if so what is the budget? This has been a festering priblem since ive been a fan and it seems like every AD just wishes it to go away.

I don’t make every basketball game though even as someone who has tickets to both.
It’s harder to plan for the weekday games for basketball than for football.

By AD I meant the athletic department, not specifically the Athletic Director. I’m not saying they aren’t trying. I just question the overall vision and coordination. There’s been a lot of turnover and things often seem siloed.

Built by Houston and the helmets are good examples. Great ideas, but dropping those helmets Friday night before the game was a missed opportunity to build buzz all week. And I agree the department can’t fix attendance alone. From the outside, though, fan outreach seems very top-down. Decisions and execution appear to stay within the same small group assigned to it.

My larger point is simply that we’re already competing at a high level with a lot of untapped potential. If we can get more of those pieces pulling in the same direction, there’s plenty of room to grow.

They should have given a fan a chnace to win one if the helmets. Attend the game, get a raffle ticket entry. Must be present to win.

Instead, the $250k+ donors get to buy them…woohoo.

I just don’t see the reason for the hate.

If you do not see the reason for the hate, you do not have ears. She screeches unintelligibly and obviously has done zero prep for what she is saying. It is embarassing.

I think a 6pm start adds anywhere from 3K-6K fans… I was also disappointed with yesterday’s attendance. I really though we would continue to climb from the 29K range of the first 2 games. I know folks hate 11am but the weather was actually much better yesterday with a breeze and a bit more overcast. I thought the students were mid… they could of done better but the real problem are the alums…

People are in attendance. They are just in the concourse or the clubs where they have A/C or cool shade.
My seats are filled on the north side EVERY GAME.
My attendance plan---------
Arrive around 10am and park in the garage.
Go to A/C Yeoman club for food and water before the game. Do you think I go sit in a hot seat for an hour??? NOT.
I am in seat for the entire first half. Then at halftime go back to Yeoman club for A/C and hydration. Then back to seat for the rest of the game.

I am really dumbfounded why they waited so late in the week to announce this super cool event. The helmets were a great buzz around the country and they could of milked this pub all week. It may even of helped to drive more attendance. Really bad marketing. They could of raffled a couple off to folks actually at the game or held a silent auction.

I moved my seats two years ago to the other side of the stadium to help avoid sun/heat once I realized that 11am & 2:30am was the new normal…

I think she’s much more understandable than Lauren. But really, she’s doing ad reads, same ones every game. If the sponsors are happy, then it’s good.

Could she practice and be more prepared? Sure. It’s live though, so if you stumble across your words like happens to anyone, professional or not, it’s out there. No retakes.

But really what are you missing if you can’t understand her? The Whataburger bucket toss, the Gallery Furniture seat upgrade, the JBL womp womp, or the T-shirt toss?

Nothing that the screamer does can’t be done by PA announcer Bob Ford.

And my ears will thank you.

I moved to the top and stood under the concourse for the air flow, there are tons of people that do that, it is what it is, people are going to go where there is relief. The AD should learn from this and start figuring out a plan long term. It seems like when we have good team we end up talking about this problem vs the good team.

that was taken in th 2nd qrt. i don’t know what your definition of packed is, but i think you need to make an appointment at the Mann Eye Institute or at least America’s Best!

I agree the pa announcer could do the host ad reads. However the pa announcer can’t run around the stadium and engage the people that win the seat upgrade and stuff like that, you will still have someone doing that, so why not have that person do the reads, gives the pa announcer a break and gives a different person to listen to for 30 seconds or a minute.

She asked a college student what grade he was in.
